A really original & good looking phone incl refreshing colour options. Dimensions/weight look good, as does the general functionality (usability vs. raw specs). The only thing missing which I'd like in my next phone is waterproofness. Look forward to holding it anyway, could still be persuaded depending on price/ what else is produced this autumn. With the weak yen this autumn's Xperias will prob be the main contenders for me.
"It will cost $200 for the 16GB version and $250 for the 32GB units, both with a two-year contract."
This is exactly the contrary of what was expected. This phone was rumored and expected to be at more or less $350 WITHOUT contract. This price plus a 2 year contract means that the phone is $600+ without
Curved edges of the glass is new invention?!?!?!?
Hello Moto...that is nothing new...
this is just ridiculous i mean they are just ripping us off .. after all that losses and criticism i thought motorola learnt something but its a no go i was waiting for the phone since it came in leaked news almost a year ago but after seeing this i m definitely going for note 3 didnt expect this from google and moto
Jorge, 01 Aug 2013They should have made it 4.5"Looks sensational.
Have been waiting 2 years for a phone that has a hd display without being huge. This is it.
Anonymous, 01 Aug 2013Lots of people will buy this , because it has a amoled display. You need some Google search ab... moreI bet I know more about AMOLED technology than you...
The only advantages that come into my mind about AMOLED compared to other technologies such as IPS are better black levels and better power consumption when displaying dark images.
The very saturated colors are a matter of preference. I don't like them.
The disadvantages are outweighting though in my opinion:
AMOLED consumes more energy when displaying bright images compared to other technologies
Isn't as bright as LCD panels
tints (which will get WAY worse over time)
screen wears of way faster than LCD
and already for the OLEDs wearing off faster I'd not buy the phone. I own a galaxy S2 myself and even after one year the screen was visibly worn out. that won't happen with a good IPS panel, they last like 5 times as long, are brighter, don't suffer black clipping (can't see past 9 on the gamma scale on my galaxy S2, again this gets worse over time as well), consume less power when displaying bright images, more realistic colors...
IMO LCD is just better and probably always will be.
24 hours of mixed usage endurance.
This phone is terrible, 200$ or 250$ on a contract? lol why would anyone buy this junk, motorola and google have failed Royaly,so ashamed.
poor from Google and Motorola. Get everyone interested and then say oh by the way its US only. Haha, google will never learn.
Anonymous, 01 Aug 2013Such poor specs and lack of innovations from Moto. No quad core even though octa is round the ... moreObviously S4 is overall better, but that in no way makes this stupid. You don't have to have a 1080p screem. Full RGB 720p Amoled is still a crisp beautiful Retina display.
It's 10MP, but improved sensor with larger pixels and good optics. It should take great pictures in theory. 8MP is plenty enough already for most.
Anonymous, 01 Aug 2013Such poor specs and lack of innovations from Moto. No quad core even though octa is round the ... moreMoto X doesn't need quad/octa cores and over fluffed specs like your S4..I mean honestly how much of that overstuffed crap do you really use on your S4 anyway??..Oh wait nobody cares..Did you even check the hands on review and see how well it performed against the quad/octa over fluffed terds floating around nowadays..Here ya go.. http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_x-review-961p5.php
Such poor specs and lack of innovations from Moto. No quad core even though octa is round the corner. No 1080p. Only 10 MP camera. Basically a midrange phone for the price of a premium one. I'll keep my Galaxy S4, thanks.
The Stranger, 01 Aug 2013What about it's global availability...? I would like to see it India....hope they will launch ... moreIt'll take a lot of time for it to get launched in India specially since they're most probably going to stick to contracts as no contract free price has been mentioned.
AnonD-167677, 01 Aug 2013I don't think that it will land in India soon...The only phone manufacturer who has the decenc... moreEven Samsung dint launch galaxy nexus . Nexus S came a lot later date after releasing in US
Instead of being cheaper than most phones as the suggested, It proved out to be more expensive. I am having doubts if it will actually be worth it.
The clear reason for this price is because it is manufactured in US itself.
They could have easily made it cheaper if it was made in Asia.
Jobayer, 01 Aug 2013how many frames per sec in the front 1080p camera?30fps or less
