"customers should benefit from better prices, however they still sell old tech at premium prices."

They already benefit buy paying more, for example, they get best looking games, best performance in games, no any lags in almost any game.

I would prefer old tech which runs everything fast and smoothly, than new tech which is still laggy. You find many videos from youtube where this one guy has all the flagship phones and he's comparing different games sametime, those videos are good to show what iOS real life performance is all about, don't be brainwashed by paper specs.

450 is not at all cheap for a plastic phone with reduced features and outdated hardware.

Modern phones have expensive quad core cpus, very sharp displays, multimegapixel cams, large capacuty batteries, etc

These rise the cost significantly. The companies compensate by not having to develop money on the software, for the os.

But with greedy apple, things are different, they have a very limited os, optimised to work on certain specs, now that hgave become, low cost specs, customers should benefit from better prices, however they still sell old tech at premium prices.

in europe, the cheap i phone will sell at 450 euros, meaning more than 500$, a price range that you can afford a high end android/windows mobile, but apple will sell at that price with specs of a mid table phone, the iseep will find excuses to justify the overrated price, but the point still stands and the hardware cost/ price ratio still inflates in apple products...

Tony, 08 Aug 2013Apple do things sometimes later but all the people will love it and think wow plastic iphone g... moreiphone 3g was plastic polycarbonate, it came out in 2008. When is samsung going to catch up and make a phone from nice materials, instead of cheap plastic? Samsung admits to using cheap plastic as well, because it's easier to make. Samsung = disposable phone, it's not designed to last more than one year.

2. Retina display of only 326 ppi vs. 469 ppi pixel density?? Dude, if not for the retina display, you wouldnt be knowing what PPI was all about in phones.
3. 1GB RAM vs. 2GB RAM [Look reply 1] Droids need more since Droids lag
4. Outdated 4 inch screen against over 5 inch screen. [Since when 4"s inch were outdated?]. This is a matter of choice.
5. No NFC support. ["There's no need to wander around the room bumping your phone." Apple has AirDrop]
6. Battery capacity of only 1440 mAh vs. Over 3000 mAh. [When you build a phone thats a size of Mini TV, the battery capacity must be higher. iPhone has the perfect capacity for its size.

The smaller screen has a high ppi and is a similar size to the Galaxy S2, whose screen size fans were loving just a couple of years ago.
Lack of NFC and file sharing isn't such bad deal for 95% of smartphone users as one is fringe and the other is hardly ever used.

I would go as far as saying that the most essential feature missing on the iPhone 5 is a FM radio, and even some of the newest handsets don't have one.

There isn't anything that Android offers that is essential. A bigger screen which is preference driven and that's about it.

iOS, although lacking some functionality that is present in Android, is coded much more efficiently. In other words: It doesn't need quad-core powerhouses to run power hungry apps and such.
