My friend has got a G1 few days ago, he told me that the battery is extremely bad, he had a switch of charged about 12 hrs when he first got it, but the battery still cant last 24hrs, and it switched itself off. then he went to the tmobile shop, the sales asid this is normal.....

the sales told him that the firmware for this G1 is R7 which is not very good, but the new one R28 will be better.

So anyone here got the same problem?

If the g1 isn't that appealing to people, then we just have to wait for Motorola to come up with its own Android phones by next year. I'm sure these will be solidly built and will look cool without sacrificing software capabilities.

I think this phone has a great OS but the look does not stand out, T-mobile wanted a step up from the sidekick and the developers at Danger was not improving the OS fast enough for T-mobile "all this is hear say". The only perks that the G1 has in my opinion is that it will work on a 3G network and it is open source;however there are other phones out there that are 3G ready and open source. This is a great phone for a consumer who is afraid to buy an unlock gsm phone. As for me I will wait until they get it right and release a G2(with more appeal inside and out) if they don't then it was never meant for me to have.

If british people don't like technology why would they release it in here first? Well actually Google is much more popular here than it is in the US (compared to Yahoo). Personnaly I prefer to give the OS a year and get a nice phone with already good programs.

I feel pretty sad about the people in UK don't have the passion on trying new technology like other countries, such as USA, China and Japan.

The G1 is a pretty good phone, but not as popular as the n95 (OMG, I am talking about the silver one), I know this, as I am working in a phone shop as well

I work in a busy phone shop in the middle of a busy shopping center, we got these in today and even on a £40 tarrif with a free handset they are not selling. I can't see it doing very well at all. Poor feature line up and it looks terrible.

T-mobile actually dont do 24 month contracts unless you're a business customer, if you get the phone with a flext 40 you get web and walk PLUS option included FREE in the tariff - £40/month for 18 months

or you can go for the combi tariff, paying £40 will give you the equivalent of combi35 with web and walk plus - so you basically get the web and walk plsu option (usually 12.50) for a fiver! Good tariffs, just would like to see google battle with the missing features such as stereo bluetooth and video playback

looks like a nice phone. but what takes the cake is that it's t-mobile who'll be the serviceprovider. signal is often bad especially with their 3G service & mobile internet. no wonder they offer one of the lowest rates here......

I think you've waited long enough for your company to bring a touchscreen phone to the masses.

What is they hype about?? I've been keeping track of this phone for a few months now and i still don't see what nor understand what is so special about this thing. What does it do that so much better than any other smart phone out there.I'm personally waiting on the Nokia 5800 and as far as i kno it does everything the G1 does but theres no way I'm waiting in a line for it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the phone is bad in any way.
