What is the gain of these 2 brand names coming together. They were already kissing cousins so to be unless they are now going to start to make something amazing what is the point. I am totally fed up with the Lumia they all look the same and it getting stale. The app market on Windows is terriable so whats the point? i cant just buy a phone because it has a good camera their has to be more.
Microsoft is always slow in everything they do in the mobile phone land they are not really making a dent. Are they planning on drowning together?

It will take years for them to rebuild that again from scratch. I only wish their PureView, PureMotion HD, ClearBlack, Symbian OS and other technologies still continue to be with them. But the loss of expertise and professionals are going to pinch them hard.

Good job Europe, gj Finland, really gj! Loss of one of the biggest brands in the world. You want sell ? So u should do it but much earlier for 3-4 times more! The period of Elop presidency = a significant decline in the value, MS couldn't buy cheaper :D

Amit, 03 Sep 2013I think you are right Mr. Ujjwal. Either nokia make faster his own symbian s60 or go for androidNOKIA should make faster S60 OS.

You fooks thinks nokia is gone for good, but actually it was just given a new life. The company is just own by a bigger company, those people behind the camera development and other intelect will still be there, plus those arogant nokia ceo will be no longer in control. These should be a good news for nokia fans, their sinking boat with sunburn captain was saved by a bigger ship.

My heart goes for nokia:(
i felt like i am loosing some one who is very close to my heart..
"Microsoft has reached a deal to acquire Nokia's devices and services units. The deal will also include the Finnish company's patents and mapping services."
Means not the whole Nokia firm. So heads up Nokia board and directors and designers, bring up a new device with a new OS and innovative design. Start from a scratch again. You can do it! Connect people again. :)
funny to see people saying " i will not buy a nokia any more becos microsoft bought them " . its like a russian saying " i will not watch the the moon any more becos americans landed on it first".
johnson, 03 Sep 2013Nokia still is Nokia but lumias and ashas are no longer Nokia... so! who cares? I never liked ... moreNokia will continue to make basic phones only. They don't have the capacity and resources to produce smartphones anymore as that division has already been bought by Microsoft. Microsoft becomes a much bigger company now at the expense of Nokia.
Here in my area, the only two best after sales and service company are Nokia and Samsung. I have only used Nokia and Samsung phones.. Now if Nokia will be gone. I have left no choice other than Samsung. Don't even have a Sony service center here and the local brand after sales and service are pathetic. This is the end. I've no choice... /=
time to go to crapsung with lagdroid now for me.or use my 808 for life
This is all for the benefit of Microsoft and not of Nokia. There is no point in defending Windows Phone now, fanboys. Nokia is now out of the smartphone picture.
AnonD-178638, 03 Sep 2013This was a brilliant move by microsoft, and also a crucial one, microsoft could not afford to ... moreMicrosoft will lose Samsung and HTC and... because it would be totally stupid by Samsung... if they make WP8 phones trying to compete with Microsoft WP8 phones because Samsung and HTC and... will never get the full WP8 experience that is reserved only for Microsoft phones! Microsoft will now make even more tablets and maybe even Windows 8 touch-screen laptop so Samsung and all computer manufacturers should consider if they really want to use Windows 8 on their tablets and laptops... anymore!
Finland is the big loser because their Nokia is now a USA company and most profits will end up in USA and most of the development will soon move from the very expensive Finland to China or back home to USA!
This deal is the end for Nokia, and the trojan horse Stephen Elop have accomplished his original mission to make Nokia cheap for Microsoft to buy!
Nokia would have been number 1, bigger than both Samsung and Apple, if they had released even just one Android with their 41 MP camera!
