AnonD-178638, 03 Sep 2013This was a brilliant move by microsoft, and also a crucial one, microsoft could not afford to ... moreHad Nokia gone with Android they would have been competing with Samsung where they should have and definitely would had an edge over Samsung with their technologies and brand value. Nokia would still been a market leader.
And by the way MS still don't own Nokia, they have only bought their handset and services business. The mapping business along with Nokia's patents (and hopefully their PureView tech) will still be independently owned by Finnish Nokia. Microsoft will still have to license Nokia's patents and Maps by paying a fee after 10 years have passed.
Microsoft will only be inheriting the legacy of a great portfolio line and getting rid of a formidable future competitor.
Nokia still is Nokia but lumias and ashas are no longer Nokia... so! who cares? I never liked lumias and ashas. In my opinion Nokia should adapt android from now... if they did as I said they still can beat crappy samsungs.
@@@Nokia please make faster your own symbian s60 OS.
Symbian should come back.. We are always with you...@@@
So if you deliver the company, I will put your name in the hat to be the next MS CEO, deal?
Saddest day in Finland history... =/
There will never be another quality and beautiful design Nokia smartphone... bye, and thanks Nokia... Today we have our devices of different brands on the hands thanks to you...
Good news for samsung, now Samsung will be the top1 mobile manufacturer for next 10 years with android!!! . Nokia is RIP.
pathetic, few of nokîa fans switch to android and its a fact, nokia betrayed us. we dont like lumia, adopt android.
Nokia stockholders would have earned much more if nokia release android devices, that this obsolete agreement with microsoft. Stockholders really are a disaster, adding on android will take nokia number1 in the market for next 10 years!!!... Now, Nokia is RIP
I know what's going to happen now. Some Chinese manufacturer is going to read all these posts and produce a "MOKIA" phone running Android. It will look, feel, and act the same and cost a fraction of the price. He's going to make shed loads of cash.
Now who will buy BlackBerry?

Nokia will continue to make BASIC phones but will no longer produce smartphones. Lumia and Asha are both owned now by Microsoft. It no longer belongs to Nokia. Microsoft didn't buy Nokia, just its devices and services units. Future Lumia phones will be called Microsoft phones not Nokia phones.
