Nokia can finally innovate properly now. Secondly it is Nokia and Microsoft so the branding will remain. Thirdly with the amount of money Microsoft will bring in, there is a good possibility of revival for Nokia. And just for a fact, Lumia devices are already beggining to do well than before, so chill, and wait for good things to come. Also now Elop is back in Microsoft, he will male sure that the Os is innovating continuesly.
Anonymous, 03 Sep 2013Love Nokia, love windows phone, love microsoft... Good discision by nokia and microsoft...are you stephen elop or some ms employ.
Elop didnt destroy nokia, nokia and their precious symbian destroyed nokia, because they couldnt let go of outdated symbian which wasnt cabable to compete the new wave smartphone markets which apple started.
I don`t see how this is bad news. From now on, with MS making the software and the hardware, the OS will be better optimised(even better than it is now). It will be like Apple who makes great hardware with perfectly optimised software...
Now we are free to buy other device maker's phones. RIP 8910, 7650, 6600, 7710, N90, N91, N73, N95, E51, E52, E71, N97, E7, N8, 808 PureView, N900, N9, N950, the XpressMusics, the communicators, the N-Series, the Sirocco, the Artes...
AnonD-27765, 03 Sep 2013The NOKIA branding is what sells Windows Phones. Microsoft won't kill it. Maybe in India the Nokia brand still sells.
From what I have seen its no longer considered a premium brand.
They had the biggest mobile phone company in the word. They had 1st smartphone years before others.
Than they hired Elop to destroy them.
5 bilion? Samsung sells 70 milion smartphones; thats probably 7bilion profit each year.
Anonymous, 03 Sep 2013Get your man inside, make the company wireless, but it cheap. Lol, worthless ofcors.... Autocorrect strikes again
AnonD-27765, 03 Sep 2013The NOKIA branding is what sells Windows Phones. Microsoft won't kill it. Didn't they already? I have encountered people who are like "what, Nokia? I don't want a Nokia!". Not that it's shameful, but it is highly undesirable.
The developing battle lines are going vertical
Apple: iDevice running iOS on ARM
Microsoft: Lumia running Windows on ARM
Google: Moto running Android on ARM
Samsung: Galaxy running Android on ARM
Will Samsung switch to Tizen?
How will Intel get into the game?
I can't believe this...
One of the Finns greatest company have given it soul to an american company...
Not saying american is bad but, the Nokia shouldn't have done this.
This is bullshit.
I felt Stephen Elop is the guy behind Nokia's failure. This can be think in other way around that Stephen Elop present Nokia to Microsoft. I hope you get what I mean??? When Nokia working for Linux, Unix OS Stephen Elop stop'd that project and he made Nokia to go with Microsoft Windows OS. In other way around Mr Stephen Elop by being outside from Microsoft working for Microsoft. Anyway Emotional attachment towards brand might get hurt(Nokia). Microsoft really need to work hard on Branding and marketing its devices in near future. Especially in India and Latin America region.
I won't be surprised if Sony makes other brands get their "A game" on, and improve their.camera, leaving Nokia to follow in the footsteps of symbian. a sad story.
I think it's fair:
Google owns Motorola mobile division
MS owns Nokia device division
______ will own the entire Blackberry company.
Why is so much whinning about it?
