doesn't surprise me, the manufactureres of smartphones are borking their devices so as not to harm their core business, you can get full android watch's from little known chinese players with camera's and physical sim trays

Like why should I pay $300 for a Seiko 5 with essentially the same movement as a sub-$100 Invicta (ironically made by Seiko only)?
Better go with their sister brand like Orient. Even Citizen is releasing bangers with new Tsuyosa models. Better than hyping Seiko.

I expect any non-wearos smartwatch to run gemini/siri and support offline spotify.these will close the gap significantly. it is technically possible since Garmin has been doing for years without wearos.people stay away from Garmin due to high price and rugged design.it is a solid brand but,casual non-athlete users just need more affordable wearables.

The fun fact it actually would have helped the U.S economy if they just let Huawei participate in the their market in smartphones and especially 5.5G deployments. Look at the Middle Eastern GCC countries like Kuwait and KSA they're just the second after China to start offering 5.5G services even before all western countries, making their people enjoy 1.7Gb/s of high internet speed.

I’m not a fanboy but just like the iPad the Apple Watch has killed the competition. Most brands stopped caring about making flagship Andriod tablets because they couldn’t compete and it’s the same with the watches. Now just cheap Chinese ones or WearOS ones which aren’t anywhere near as good as an Apple Watch.

It's simple:
Watches that run Wear OS barely last 1 or 2 days on battery life.
And those that don't run Wear OS and last longer on battery life barely have any worthwhile features and have an operating system that's closed to third parties.

More like fashion accessory that looks cool. Sure some will use them for fitness. I rarely use my galaxy watch 6 classic. Mostly for music control. So your phone is in your pocket and earbuds in your ears. Instead of using earbud controls you use your watch to control it. And you change watch face when you are bored. But watch will never replace your phone.

high cost of entry for not much features. I spent a few hundred dollars on an analogue watch that looks great and im happy with it.
Until smartwatches can have week long battery life AT LEAST with rotating bezels and stuff by default, i dont think it'll change that much.
Or they should lower in price. Xiaomi's growing cus of the smart band stuff
