Carol-, 23 hours ago1. I put together more comments of yours, not just the one i answered to, so yeah, they mentio... moreYou still don't get it, do you? What Fairphone is doing is shifting responsibility onto the customer. Fairphone says: I am going to pay my workers high european salaries (which actually says nothing about the lifestyle they can afford with the money they get) and not exploit them, so it is up to the customer to find the extra money for my workers. The customer will compare phones and look for one that has good value for money and is financially affordable. Average and even higher paid people would look at value for money and Fairphone fails hard in this category. On the other hand, if the customer has money to throw away and can "afford philanthropism", then he is going to buy it. It is the same as buying a rare Ferrari at auction and giving the money to charity. Who would have spare money to give for a phone that is clearly overpriced for what it offers? Only someone who wouldn't feel pain for the money he loses because he doesn't have to work hard to get it, meaning he is exploiting others to get the money (and I am saying "exploiting" because this is eventually the only way to get rich; looking at Fairphone, they exist for over 10 years and have only about 200000 customers, so business remains very small and they rely on "wealthy philanthropists").

So Fairphone is never going to stop exploitation because they cannot make their business bigger and thus will never have an effect on the market. They are in a niche market for people who don't care about money and can afford doing "good deeds". On the other hand the other big smartphone makers wouldn't be as big as they are if they didn't exploit people, so why would they stop?

P.S.: I am not poor, I can buy any phone I want, I just know how economy works and that Fairphone is a vortue signalling scam because if "philanthropism" requires "big bank account", then it is a virtue signalling scam. How many people, even in Europe, could afford a phone, which is worth 300€ at best, for 600€? It is not just about the 600€, it is also about what it offers. Supply and demand, you know. Nobody asked for a crappy 600€ phone and this is why only 200000 buy them. Obviously, not even Europeans have the spare money for such luxury.

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2025Did you even read what I said or did you just rage? Your reply doesn't mention any of the... more1. I put together more comments of yours, not just the one i answered to, so yeah, they mention all what you said, or at least what i've read. If you are not in all of the comments, even tough they sure sound like one and the same person, then well, give yourself a name.

        2. I also answered the question, if you can't aford it you do not buy, but you don't just go plain bashing something because you do not afford, should i also go and screem at ferarri because i cannot afford their 200000 € cars? You are talking about competitive market, but you do not understand the market. Nor the economy nor how it functions, the most stupid comment i've ever read is "you need to exploit others to buy this phone" 🤦🏻‍♂️.
Anyway, there are brands that sell a device cheap to you and then sell your data expensive to others, there are brands that use child labor and pay garbage wages so to sell you cheap devices. And there are some few companies that still hold on ethics and tey to raise awareness and to tell you that cheap does not mean competitive, but it means to support slavery, child labor and conflict zones mining, pretty much to ignore facts and act like they don't happen, and be happy cause it's cheap. The price tag is the actuall cost of producing a device with most fair aproach possible and also with enviroment in mind. Plus support, warranty and repairability. So again, do you even bother researching who this company is or you just come here to complain about the "unfair" for you price?
To continue, they try to tell you that if the world would function correctly, the devices like poco, moco and coroco would not cost 200 euros. Yet you buy them at that price. Funny again, you literally complain about what you are as a person. You run after the cheappest you can find but complain again, about how this companies exploits people to get rich (In some other post of yours).

Yeah, if you buy fair made products is more expensive, that is why you will not buy the same product every year because it has a bigger battery, you will think about it, and make your purchese smart. If you buy quality products you will buy less, and that is the normal how it should be, instead of consumerism, to actually repair and not throw, to buy less and keep more, to respect the factory and support the innovators, and the whole line that made the product.
But yeah, it is easyer to use the word "competitive market" for you actually meaning "cheap", and rander a device "low-spec" while not close to low, just to remain on your rethorics.

Anyhow, you do not like, you do not buy, go buy your poco who is stopping you? What is your purpose here actually, to do what? Tell people that other devices are better while not understanding nothing about this company, and about the who is supporting it and their ethic and goals? Again, plain ignorance if you ask me, and also insulting for the people who want to support this company exactly for what it is and does.

Other phones can be rapaired? Yeah if you are lucky to find any spare parts and a local store to pay arround 200 € for rapairs, and even that, if you are lucky and it works after repairs were done, most device are thrown away after 6 months of repair because they just die, statistics talk here. So nope, other devices can't be repaired, not that easy, not that cheap, and some not...period.
As for > 1000€ phones from established brands that, well, innovated at some point in their existance and did not get rich from copy paste > sell cheap, are expensive and i would not pay that much for a phone. Copy paste > sell cheap brands that sell devices at 1000€ are a joke😉.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2025Here are my honest questions to you. Do you own a Fairphone or not? How did It affect yo... moreFdriend dont own the fair phone have Motorola edge 40 pro a years old phone still in perfect condition using only bundled 125W charger battery still perfect.
How much are spare parts on fairphone you can see on offcial website.

For the other brands cant say because its country deppendable.
Just for example here in Slovakia genuine screen for Iphone 16 is from 200 eur vendor dependable. Thats just the spare parts replacing is another 100-200 vendor dependable.
Equally costly phone as fairphone 6.

In case of Samsung S25 equaly costly phone as Fairphone is also from 200 eur vendor dependable some sells it p to 350 euros.
              Replacement cost from 150 eur.

Another example Motorola edge 60 pro new LCD from 80 euros vendor dependable replacement 80 euros.

In oother words faitphone is a ot chepaer and a fact any user can fix his phone without paying service centre to do it is a win win.

Having a midrange phone, it's going to start lagging and impact your experience a few years down the line.

If you only plan to use the phone for 2-3 years, it's okay to go for a weaker chip. But for longevity you need to start on the cutting edge.

I am still asking you: Where am I going to get the 600$ from to buy a phone that isn't even worth half of it in our competitive market? Where is your reply on that? One has to get the money from somehwere to buy this phone. You have to exploit someone, don't you? As you said on your own, there are only 200000 faiphone users. 200000, this is the amount of people who are ready to give 600$ for this low-spec phone. That is nothing. I have more than enough money to buy it, but I would get very poor if I would buy only climate friendly virtue signalling stuff.

Why did I chose It, because It was f888ing cheap(321 euro) in Slovakia.
Yeah, It has some "disadvantages" shown in the review, but I can easily live with them.
Personally the biggest disadvantage was software(both Google and Xiaomi), but I fixed It with Canta+Shizuku and I will use this phone for many many years to come and I don't need any Fairphone for that.

P.S. I just tried and my old Lumia 430 and It still works 10 year after release without any repair or battery change.

BTW, considering how much more Fairphone costs I am pretty sure you can pay for 1-3 repair from that difference alone.

This phone is expensive for what It offers.
High repairability? It's not like other phones can't be repaired.
Ethics? It's likely still made in China like the older models.
Long update policy? Android updates could be a problem in the future thanks to weak SoC and It's not like a phone becomes unusable If It doesn't have the latest Android or security patch.
Not to mention EU plans to mandate long update policy, so this supposed advantage of Fairphone will be gone.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2025Most people don't directly exploit anyone but themselves. But it's fair to say that ... moreYeah, but what I am trying to say is that if Fairphone doesn't exploit the workers and thus asks extra money, than I have to exploit someone to make the extra money to buy the phone. Looking at one person, this might sound dumb, but on a large scale this is what is going to happen. In capitalism, someone needs to be the looser. The money needs to be accumulated from somewhere. If every company would pay their workers a higher and equal salary, they would make less to none profit and eventually go bankrupt.
There are about 100 trillion dollars (depending on the definition, it can vary) and 8 billion people on this planet. That would make about 12500 dollars for each person, if everyone had equal amount of money in an ideal world. Nobody gets exploited, but everybody is poor. How would you pay 600 dollars for this phone? The price tag presumes that the customer has exploited someone to get that rich.
You cannot say you are trying to save the world and at the same time be a capitalist company that asks extra money for its products. The countereffect on exploitation is zero.

I am not bothered by chispet like many are trying to point out. People that are every year buying a new Poco for 300€ because the only thing what matters to them is the chipset and the battery which can hold their prolonged gaming sessions on a phone.

                                        Will i buy this phone?

                                        No.

Everyone has their priorities when buying a phone.

My priorities are the main camera results and easy implementation of the Graphene OS
