if you get your fone thru a carrier than furry muff but if you buy a phone that is unlocked then that is what it should be, UNLOCKED !
"Update: Samsung's official Swiss Facebook
account has stepped in with some information regarding the locking issue. According to the official source, a European SIM-locked
Galaxy Note 3 could be used outside of
Europe (thus become unlocked) as long as you activate it with a European SIM card first.
Nothing to see here then - move along
people." yeah run along samsung haters
Gsm arena, please clarify this issue asap, I'm presently in Africa and I intend being one of the first to own the note3 via the pre-orders...but I think I might just make do with the LG G2 if I can't get proper clarification on this annoying development from samsung.
I was looking at possibly buying a Note 3, but not after hearing this.
That would be the begining of more unknown to come. It's not their business where I activate it. Forget Samsung.
GODS- let greedy sleazy make fools of themselves .. Dont cry for samsung bosses .. think of poor hardworking samsung workers ..and do think of hardpressed customers
Is there no way around this as I visit Asia often, Can I come out of my warranty to get it unlocked, or will that not work as well?
AnonD-26572, 27 Sep 2013The point people are missing is that once you place the correct SIM card for your region in it... moreSorry, but i have to disagree with you on this one. They are adding this to what point unsure.
I just bought one and it was European locked, and I travel often to Asia, FML.
samsung - anather ? unnecessary drama -- why not open honest public press release worldwide ? but then - ALL handsetmakers networks ARE ECONOMICAL with the truth-thats why socalled "fine print" ghosh !! this is 2013 and samsung are supposed to be world leaders !! this must be a lesson for ALL FANBOYS and TROLLERS ! BRANDS dont give a damn -for customers - only care about sales and moneys .. FUNNY ! SAMSUNG CANNOT BLAME THIS FIASCO on apple !! cry ! cry! samsung !
AnonD-87432, 27 Sep 2013Can i use p9005 in India now.. or i have to unlock it ... Where did you purchase it and was it SIM free or from a network operator? Bacically is it unlocked at all or has it already been locked to a single network in your country by your mobile operator if you bought it from them?
what we want is a global revolution - it will happen anyway... then you remember who did not want it
Gee, 27 Sep 2013So you shell out all that money for a SIM free device which is locked to your region..... Hmmm... moreThe point people are missing is that once you place the correct SIM card for your region in it the restriction is removed. After that it will work with any SIM but of cours that country must provide a network band your phone can use. It is not the fault of the phone manufacturer or the network if you are from another country that does not use the same frequency bands.
This is simple trick to understand the no# of devices sold and activated in that respective region. Thus to improve the sales and marketing in that region.
This is utter nonsense!! What if a person is on world tour? He or she will have to throw the smartphone away and use some basic phone once the person is out of his or her continent. Nobody in this world will be able to gift smartphones anymore to their loved ones who reside in another continent. Kids who go for college studies outside their home continent will have to unnecessarily spend lots of money buying a a second smartphone. This move from Samsung is totally awful! I think the huge amount of profit that they are making from smartphone sales has made Samsung greedy and stingy. By this move, a person wont be able to buy a smartphone at prices from another continent which is less than that of his or her continent. Intelligent move by Samsung to save some bucks by putting customer value at stake!
So you shell out all that money for a SIM free device which is locked to your region..... Hmmm great move there Samsung.
Juan, 27 Sep 2013well bye bye Samsung, It has been great so far (S2, S3, S4, Galaxy Tab 10.1) but my next devic... morevalues you share with samsung !!!
remind me never, ever to offer you a job.
like apple, the only value that samsung care about is their profits and shares price.
loyalty to a brand is just stupid,i used to trust and buy only htc devices, then they started locking the boot loader and selling devices that have a warrenty that is a waste of time if you actualy want to do any decent customising of an htc device.
before that i used to be a proper htc fanboy and do their selling job for them, but no longer, i now tell people to look around at any and all devices, including those of the better firms from china.
