Ahahah, samsung's success is getting into their. I was going to get a samsung phone but with this I'd rather get another android.
Samsung in long run will suffer a lot with such policy. There is nothing special in samsung phones other than superamoled screens.
To have different prices policy for every continent. Which mean cheaper in US, expensive in Europe...
77 lub, 27 Sep 2013so if I got device from Europe, specified for Europe.. and then traveling to Asia.. I cant mak... moreu can still make call, by paying expensive roaming fees, cos u cannot use local SIM to call
Does anyone know if rooting will solve this problem? Because it's a big problem for travelers such as myself.
Man! First Samsung's region-locking their Android phones. What's next for Samsung doing this? Region-lock their future Windows Phone models?
If there's news on either WP Central or GSMArena about this region-lock spreading to Samsung's future WP models then whether Android or WP, I'm not considering a Samsung phone anymore.
Shame on you sammy! Consumers are really the ones buying and using your products. Not big companies and mobile carriers.
I'm often traveling between the US and Europe, and use a different SIM card for each. I was set on buying the S4 mini in the next few months. There goes that idea.
Samsung, you just gave me reason to give my money to a competitor. Fail.
Typical. Their success is getting to their head just like microsoft. I hope they will remember that once you are at the top there is no direction left to go except down. Silly decisions like these can get you overthrown like a heartbeat.
This sucks! I'm from Europe and if I go with one of these phones to, let's say USA for 1-3 months I can't use their SIM cards in one of these phones. Not cool Samsung, not cool
All this to stop grey imports, so that local prices can reflect the size of your wallet.
As in the UK market, when you can't buy a dual SIM Samsung high end smartphone what are you supposed to do ? Also, if you want to travel to another part of the world and use a local (cheaper) SIM deal why should you be forced to pay extortionate roaming charges ?
An immensely stupid marketing move.
The cheaper dual SIM smartphones from other manufacturers are now looking a lot more desirable.
Seeing as where the lock is, I'm guessing that this will be unlocked in due course.
Samsung you will learn the hard way by doing so that customers have buying power and sales just might fall faster then a stone.
In my opinion its not a wise decision.
Samsung must reconsider it and hoping to remove that barrier.
Wow all of u dont really know why samsung used to do that and its happening
smuggled korean version samsung phones are everywhere nowadays
those are cheap which almost half the price of international versions
but same as china phones in terms of quaility
if samsung would not do this, they should be in dump after 4 or 5 years because of market loss and lack of credibility
Wat abt people roaming in different regions? I guess samsung has got air in their head.
This will make Samsung phone more limited then Apple phones...
No internet, no call = worthless.
THINK SAMSUNG THINK!!!
This is not good for customers who travel a lot and purchase their phones from abroad (in my home country which is Turkey, the usual price is around 1.5 times the regular European price). I guess I will leave my beloved Samsung and look other droid brands for future upgrade. Even we buy phones from abroad, we need to use the same phone for 2 years before submitting another IMEI number to our passport. The regulation already forces us to use the same phone for 2 years. But this SIM-lock matter even worsens the situation. Good bye Samsung Note4.
Anonymous, 27 Sep 2013Don't worry, other brands will also follow Sammy's path.good god man, please no, that is indeed bad for us travelers
