MossjrWow, 02 Oct 2013Gimmick? Perhaps, but how come Samsung is also going into the 64-bit next year? And how come, ... moreremember samsung phones have a lot of RAM, next year we may see the 4GB ram install from them, remember the note 3 has already 3GBram......
AnonD-55045, 02 Oct 2013I agree and disagree with you. There is indeed little advantage to the 64 bit arch aside from ... moreThe A7 isnt faster then a qualcomm 800 (AB 2.3Ghz version), the iPhone just has a much lower res, so it will feel faster, but the chip itself isnt.
Just got a 1.5ghz single core processor with 512mb ram. I must be obsolete :-(
When you cannot beat it, condemn it.
Typical sour grape losers.

But the Apple's A7 speeds are by no means gimmicky. Given its benchmarking performance, there must be something really good about that SoC.
I openly hate on Apple, their business model and practices towards their consumer base and the competition in the industry. However I must admit that, from a technical standpoint, the A7 is a well crafted and performing component.
I'm just not so sure it's directly the 64 bit arch one should thank to.
Agree that it's a gimmick because with only 1GB DRAM you'll very likely lose whatever you were working on or viewing when switching between apps and browser tabs.

64 bit is not an increment rather its a decrement . 64 bit means 4 gb ram . 4gb ram means bigger apps . Bigger apps means more work to the processor and thus big toll on the battery . We dont need numbers we need balance
AnonD-126838, 02 Oct 2013The problem with you fandroids is that you think people who are not using Android haven't trie... moregood luck with that.
i have WP8-powered Huawei W1, and i found out that WP8 has serious flaw. the OS keep filling the internal memory with junk files (especially Others folder) until no more space left, and there's no way you can clear the folder since WP OS doesn't allow user to access its file system.
it's so frustating and i can guarantee that my next phone won't be WP.
I've been saying this from the get go, you only can take full advantage of 64-bit processing when you have over 3gb of ram,I believe the a7 are tweak to preform better in benchmarks, but in everyday usages is Bearly faster than the a6 in the iphone 5.
He's hardly gonna praise Apple for being one step ahead! Qualcomm won't have 64-bit chips in phones until sometime in the middle of next year, so the obvious solution is to bash the competition instead.
Of course, a 64-bit chip means nothing if the OS is not rewritten to take advantage if this hardware. Whether Google can engineer 64-bit versions of the Dalvik VM within the next year is anyone's guess. By then, they will be coding for zillions of different instruction sets — Armv8, Armv7, Armv6, X86-32, X86-64...
Yeah, I agree. No advantage for now for the consumer.
Maybe one day when cellphones really need more ram.
But of course apple as to sell and apple fans will always swear how great this is and how nothing else is like it...
Gimmick? Perhaps, but how come Samsung is also going into the 64-bit next year? And how come, my Iphone5s is faster than ever before? Nice going VP.
AnonD-192510, 02 Oct 2013Normally, a 32bits cpu can only make use of 3.5GB of ram. You need 64bits cpu to use full 4GB ... moreOnly windows can use 3.5 GB for the whole system. In Linux, 32 bit OS can use 4 GB of memory for each process.
Oh My God... Qualcomm is so jealous. I can't believe how stupid the Qualcomm president really is. Why the hell he have to talk crap about Apple's A7, if A7 carries ARMv8 architecture, which wipes out EVERYTHING!
Anonymous, 02 Oct 201364 bit may be useless but arm v8 is not and thats why the A7 owns benchmarksTrue, my friend, true.
The only places where the i5s chip wins in benchmarks is in browser tests
In graphic tests, xperia z1 beats this phone easily
