lot of people want as well rotating home screen and ability to add a picture as a background to home screen and app list screen. at least more colours please. independent speaker adjustment for media, phone, alarm etc. these are kind of basics that should be implemented from day ONE!
I am WP user just because of NOKIA.
I tried the dev preview, its super cool now. I like app closing option.
AnonD-152638, 14 Oct 2013Well the most important parts of this update has nothing to do with existing products.
Sure, ... moreGood explanation there, my point still is that Microsoft will not do well going into hardware or telephony. they can keep their edge by making their phone software open to suit different phones ain quit doing all that surface or Nokia thing. l will prefer a situation where somehow I can pay for the 8.1 (wp) and have it installed on a phablet
This is important for microsoft because that way they can focus on developing quickly an os that can compete effectively because frankly speaking I use an Ativ S and its not at all practical ' too many limitations; I would most times revert to my mega to quickly make and send an invoice to a client (for instance) using an App. And believe it or not lack of proper multitasking and a proper filing and transfer system makes it a real pain to use. its a closed system.
And as strange as this might sound since I plicked up my Note 8, I have not used my Dell laptop for anything. Its the truth. Its not about the os, its about Microsoft's lack of focus and insensitivity to what people need: practical mobility!
Cool.but still its boring cause most of the high end games are not free in app store and are expensive(in some way).but cool.

Sure, everyone wants the latest version, but really, this isn't even in name a .1 update, and new features are so limited you can pretty much live without even if it wont make it to your device.
The important part is opening up for new hardware that is more up to date... But that cant change existing products.
The 1020 wont turn in to a snapdragon 800 powered device to cut down picture to picture times. But it opens up the possiblities for the next generation pureview to have high frame rate video, perhaps even 4K recording (but honeslty, the increased amount of detail does not represent the difference in resolution), and for that device to have shorter picture to picture times... But really, with the slow update cycle for hardware support in WP, we badly needs to see next generation of snapdragons soon, for it to have any chance of making it in to the next generation of pureview device (not that 800 is underpowered in normal situations, but the pureview trickery really needs a lot of processing power).
Krrish, 14 Oct 2013So does this now support an external USB recognition (like in Android)...bro only a few android device. many high end flagship support external usb
feature of wp8 - lag free - support of exchange and offuce suit free - free from over 9000 trozen and virus - quick updates - integrated fb,twiter and comming skype -one of the best keybord. - more battery efficient - better quality games(xbox games) run a similar game on wp and android fell the difference - better looking apps. - clean and clear app store.unlike over 9000 fart and flashlit app in playstore - no clone app - skydrive integration.
Bluto, 14 Oct 2013So, you finally admitted that you lied. Anyways, WP8 just sucks. I don't prefer to use closed ... moreso can i know my friend why did you dont like a closed os?? do you love to pirate app on android and other open os??

Bluto, 14 Oct 2013So, you finally admitted that you lied. Anyways, WP8 just sucks. I don't prefer to use closed ... moreM sure theres diff bet lag and hang. :-) and 1020, is more of acamera oriented. You, i just bought my frenz 820 on a weekend to see how wp is. Trust me, i returned it back by evenin. Couldnt get over Android. Yeah, m too kinda bored of Android, waiting for those os's whic u mentione. Btw, curious bout tizen. Liked sammys bada os.
AnonD-109004, 14 Oct 2013I dont win trophies if i lie. I agree tat occassionally my phones hangs. But as the other ppl ... moreSo, you finally admitted that you lied. Anyways, WP8 just sucks. I don't prefer to use closed source OS but i owned a Lumia 1020 for the magnificent camera only and after using it for someday i got bored. There's no use of a cameraphone if the OS is restricted as hell. Just got a refund. I'm bored of lags on Android. Sailfish OS or maybe Ubuntu touch is the OS to go.

Bluto, 14 Oct 2013I too have a LG Optimus and Galaxy S3 and unlike you, i am not going to lie. Both of the phone... moreI dont win trophies if i lie. I agree tat occassionally my phones hangs. But as the other ppl complain to a level tat as if thier life stucks. Sure, open source comes with its own risk. Wp is secure i agree, but wats the use? If i want a closed os, i wud rather choose ios on wp on any given day.
AnonD-5927, 14 Oct 2013USSD codes are supported Still that doesn't make it a complete OS. Where are the major features on Windows phone 8? Oh wait.. It lacks the basic ones.
AnonD-109004, 14 Oct 2013Hmmm. Im using my lg optimus as my 2ndary phone. Its filled with apps, some 10% internal memor... moreI too have a LG Optimus and Galaxy S3 and unlike you, i am not going to lie. Both of the phone lags when too many apps are installed or doing long operations or sometimes even when waking the phones up and not secure to use. Android is full of malwares and lags but it definitely has an edge over WP8 as it offers many features compared to WP8. While WP8 is secure and lag free to use, it lacks basic features for a smartphone OS. Same story with iOS 7.
Does it have T9 predictive text input? That is a deal breaker for me if not.
