Ah, yes, as if their servers are more privat... moreApplewill still be running Gemini (along with other models) within Private Cloud Compute, and if they maintain the “verifiable security” promise they made during the announcement, allowing researchers to perform independent audits, they technically still will be the most private option.
It’s like you running Gemini locally in your home or office, leveraging it to work for your family or staff. Only the scale is different here. Google will not see the queries, and according to the PCC white paper, neither will Apple.
TL;DR = Basically Apple is paying Google for Gemini models that have been trained by Android users to empower Siri.

Ah, yes, as if their servers are more private than others..

Smart business move.
Anonymous, 04 Nov 2025It's well known that Apple has partnership with Google. Not only Google. Apple is working with the gobrements worldwide and provide the Face ID Data. So the police can catch criminals faster
So glad to hear that siri is about to start telling people to put rocks and glue in their pizza, and that siri is about to start race swapping historical figures
Hopefully theres an option to turn off AI siri. Cloud assistants are dramatically slower than the normal assistants, they talk much more than they have to, and with gemini at least, they have to ask follow up questions you need to respond to in order to complete the simplest of tasks. thats all incredibly frustrating, especially since most people just use assistants to play music, control their smart homes, and call people hands free, which all worked perfectly fine until these crappy, half baked AI assistants flooded the market.

Good job Apple! Shove that AI down everyones throat! The new truth is in your hands!

potato4k, 04 Nov 2025True. However, sometimes in the heat of negotiation and deadline, a decision has to be made. I... moreThat's true. Fair enough. Interesting information about Apple Maps I didn't know!
Sam N8 808 owner, 04 Nov 2025Apple will never admit any connection with Google- a lot of its users want privacy and Google ... moreGoogle provides users with more privacy than Apple. Google collects data openly and allows users to limit data collection, while Apple collects data secretly and mostly does not allow users to limit data collection. Apple likes to order slanderous articles against Google to deceive naive users who then believe in this propaganda.
How about beofre making us Apple users all so super happy with the new AI powered Siri, first sorting out the mess that is the cursor positioning in any text entry scenario, but especially iMessages and Emails? How about first squishing the bugs that make iPhones randomly switch the Phone app screens insted of sitting on the one you left it on when last existing? How about fixing iPhones randomly deciding not to see Bluetooth devices clearly turned on and trying to pair, until you pair it yourself from the Bluetooth settings menu? How about fixing iPhones randomly deciding to change volume in Music or YouTube apps? How about fixing the random unresponsive screen in some apps, which refuse to do anything, but function perfectly when you want to exit from the app with a swipe? Maybe then, after we have all these issued solved, we would actually give a damn about the AI powered Siri.
Apple will never admit any connection with Google- a lot of its users want privacy and Google ain't the name you look up to for this.
That said, a lot of news come in regularly, where you just wish you could see the shock on the faces of Apple fans. This being one of them.
I mean, we Android users know our privacy is bust anyways since day 1, but what about the Apple privacy myth bubble?
jinxthesloth, 03 Nov 2025It's such a generic "at the end of the day, it's all about the money" mome... moreTrue. However, sometimes in the heat of negotiation and deadline, a decision has to be made. I'm guessing the cost of going with Anthropic for Claude might be too high per device (and Apple has a lot of devices).
This reminds me of Apple Maps. Apple Maps was a failure at launch because it had a limited set of database from TomTom. TomTom did offer a much more complete database, but they were charging more per device, and Apple didn't want to pay that much, so they settled on a less complete database.
Well, like I've been saying. Basically Apple has nothing in terms of LLM, and it would be way too far behind if they started something themselves now, vs the rest of the competitors who have been training LLM and reiterating multiple times. Thus Apple did what Apple did best, buy something or pay someone else (in this case, they gave Google a discount of another deal).
Anonymous, 03 Nov 2025Not really. End of the day it's about money. It's such a generic "at the end of the day, it's all about the money" moment though. Sure, they have an existing relationship with Google and they feel comfortable about it but trying for a new business relationship with Anthropic for Claude would have actually made their AI-powered Siri, or whatever they'd like to call it, different from a custom AI model based on Google's Gemini. Google's Gemini is already heavily being pushed for on every Android smartphone and Google devices at the moment.
jinxthesloth, 03 Nov 2025Apple should have bet on Anthropic's Claude when they found out it's better than Goo... moreNot really. End of the day it's about money.
Apple is becoming like Google (data mining) and Google is becoming like Apple (forbidding installs outside the Play Store). We are screwed.
