Let's be clear though: we're not discussing televisions here. Comparing static products like TVs to a smartphone completely misses the mark.
Smartphones are inherently mobile products, and while I don't share the specific use case, I can understand the appeal of a simple, traditional fold. However, the required increase in complexity, cost, and inherent fragility of a trifold design goes far beyond the marginal benefit of extra screen size.
Following the logic you're attempting to push that "more folds are better" where do we draw the line? Four folds, five, six, seven? With a cost increase of nearly $1,000 per fold, the concept quickly spirals into the ridiculous.

Samsung still have some way to go to perfect their Fold phone. The Fold 7 would have been perfect if it had a bigger battery, better camera, S Pen (or at least the function which they removed), and if they made it IP68. Moving to a tri fold seems like leaving unfinished business and working on something that will probably be flawed like their previous fold phones.

Now imagine if that tv had to be folded up in order to be feasibly put into pockets. If the cost of flat displays is this much, would it not be costlier to make a display that folds reasonably reliably? Now imagine having to engineer battery but also thermal dissipation.
All the costs add up. I'm trying to explain in the clearest way possible so someone of your intelligence can understand.

And I highly doubt you'll ever see an Apple Tri-Fold because their is no actual evidence there is any market demand (at the iPhone level) or a proven use case for them. I'm surprised Samsung is even bothering......
