If your threat model tells you that everyone else's phone compromised, switch to registered mail or carrier pigeon for your messages.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2025Look up end-to-end encryption. The "end to end encryption" employed by RCS is lackluster at best. Many articles have been written about the many vulnerabilities that RCS has, such as the fact that there is ZERO encryption with RCS texting between iPhone and android, and that you have to have certain versions of the Google messages app to have your messages encrypted. Even if the end to end encryption was true and completely secure, that doesn't change the fact that once a message makes its way to an android device and is unencrypted, the contents of that message are analyzed, with that data sometimes making its way to google servers. A perfect example of this is how NSFW images will be blurred and receive a warning flare.

Google has been known for collecting and selling user data for many many years at this point, and they've also been known for lying about their data collection practices for many many years as well. Stop defending Google, they do not care about you, only your data.

In June 2023 ATT shut down their RCS servers and switched to Google Jibe, in September 2023 T-Mobile shut down their RCS servers and switched to Google Jibe, in February 2024 Verizon shut down their RCS servers and switched to Google Jibe, and in January 2025 Samsung shut down Samsung messages RCS servers and switched to Google Jibe.

The US carriers have all rolled out their own RCS servers to support Apple users. If you're in the US (which I know most of you aren't), you can check this in your Messages app. Google only pushes Jibe in countries where local carriers do not run RCS servers.

Google Jibe is the RCS highway for all US carriers, Google messages is the RCS app for all US carriers. The only reason RCS even exists in 2025 is because of the time and money Google put into lobbying for it to compete against iMessage.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2025RCS is a proprietary Google product. Just use a different messenger.RCS is a communication standard not proprietary to Google.

It's commonly associated with Google given how they implement it to their Messages app.

I'm not sure whether it's true; I hardly use my iPhone anyways. I did notice a significant drop in battery life since I installed the 26 beta. I can't give you numbers though so take it as a grain of salt.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2025Have u noticed any decrease in battery life going from iOS 18 to iOS 26? This is my main concern. If you are updating from 18.7.1 to 26.1, it’s likely you will suffer noticeable battery drain the first 2-3 days as the device indexes stuff. This will vary depending on how much you have installed on your device and how many apps you have allowed Siri and Spotlight to learn from. After that, battery life should normalise again.
