"Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro"
At this point they should ditch the name and just refer to the processors by model number which would be more easy to remember and refer.

And I was in the same situation as you regarding the purchase of a new device (in this case, between a new gaming smartphone and a SteamDeck-style portable gaming device) for portable gaming.
Then, between the crazy prices of a Legion Go 2, an Asus Ally “Xbox,” and those Chinese brands with their criminal prices,
and between the increasingly closed and expensive ARM SoCs (Mediatek is on par with Qualcomm in terms of flagship SoC prices),
I finally decided to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 until the device dies for good.
Come to think of it, those lucky enough to own a device with SD8 Gen 3 (but also 8-Gen 2 and 8-Gen 1) are unlikely to make the generational leap.
The computing power is sufficient to run many titles that we already have on PC and equally satisfactory for retro emulation (all machines, from 8-bit, through 16-bit, 32-bit, and so on).
In essence, a wide range of games.
And all STRICTLY offline! (locally, on the machine, on the device)
Today I ordered a new wireless pad.

I don't know what SoCs they rebranded using the 6 Gen 1 (the 7s Gen 2 is an overclocked version of the chip I think). As for the 685, it's an overclocked 680.

The experience is so much better with proper physical controllers. And also frees up your phone for other tasks.

$70 more expensive? Which OEM would buy it? Now we know why Samsung is working hard on Exynos.
I just hope that for high end use cases like emulators(switch, ps3) and pc gaming(Game Hub lite, Winlator etc) on Android devices the driver issue would get better for non Snapdragon chipsets(well still there are no turnip drivers for Snapdragon elite or elite gen 5 which makes Snapdragon 8 gen 3 the best soc for high end emulating and pc gaming on Android).
Honestly i am debating should i buy next year new phone and what soc it should have, i would like to buy under dog Mediatek flagship based phone but i just fear that my Oneplus 12 with Snapdragon 8 gen 3 with Turnip drivers will still be better for my use cases than even latest Snapdragon 8 elite gen 5/6.
Yeah right. The it will be bundle with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.?? For whatever flagship out there 🙄
Meanwhile, iPhone 17 come with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 on all model 🤣🤣🤣

Hummus, 05 Nov 2025I guess that's also one of the reasons why S26 is (rumored to) use Exynos 2600Not really. Its just Samsung doing Samsung things
I dont know why they make this like a big deal, when the majority is still stuck at the Cortex A76 Helio G99/D6300, the A73 SD680/685 and at most the A78 D7300/SD6G3/SD6sG3
the elite in the name was already too much and now they are also adding pro into the mix.

JakoDel, 05 Nov 2025qualcomm isnt the problem at all, TSMC making 2nm 50% more expensive is
and mediatek uses tsm... moreTSMC's N2 (2nm) is a big change for TSMC since they dipped in toes of transitioning to GAA transistor from FinFet, and use Inverse Lithography Technology (ILT) and curved masks for it in one node. I don't know if it's worth 50% more expensive but it should show an actual improvement over TSMC's 3nm nodes. Prices should go down as they move onto the next big thing after 2 years or so, maybe? Regarding Samsung, they should just keep getting better in both semiconductor manufacturing and their own custom silicon chips. Their brand image for Exynos still sucks, their foundries is pretty mixed.
Pretty informative video regarding TSMC's 2nm node, by the way.

xfrqnx, 05 Nov 2025is the "Elite" name not sound Pro enough? You see, ordinary 8 Elite sits on his bottom, while 8 Elite Pro works his buttocks. Therefore one is an Elite and one is a Professional Elite (Elite Pro).
