If it's not water/dust proof then it's not worthy to be called Z1 mini and will lose 10million-1 buyer. I like the size of iphone 5S but I feel it's too small so 4.3" should be the perfect size. Android manufactures carelessly thought that high end phones should be 5" +...
in terms of naming their phones sony sucks. z, zl/zq, zr, z1, z1f/z1s. mehhhhhhh - only regular mobile-tech-blog readers get this because they know all the phones. the rest loses with such a strategy.
in terms of desinging their phones sony rules. i saw a couple of hands on videos on YT. the phone looks superb. the best looking android phone on the market. i was sick and tierd of 5' or bigger screen terror. z, z1, s4, g2. all far to big! i don't need to compensate my wiener with a bigger screen. i want a beautiful high end phone in a decent size with a cardslot. so the htc one mini is out.
in terms of specs the phone is the best you can buy for money.
i hope that the phone will hit europe in 2013 and not only in the first quarter of 2014.
PS4 have to wait i guess :D! i'll spend my money on this baby.
32gb version is a must!
20 mp on a medium range mobile. things are moving in a good direction
I ended up getting the Z1. Loving it.
Having had the Lumia 920 prior, I would say that the Windows Store isn't far behind the Android Store. I can pretty easily get the same functionality out of both devices.
As far as speed is concerned : Both devices run their apps very smoothly. I do think Android needs to sharpen up when it comes to RAM management.
Battery life on the Z1 is brilliant. I recommend getting the magnetic charging doc, having to open the porton the side and then plugging in the charging cable can be a pain.
Screen is good. I don't find the viewing angle to be an issue like so many reviews suggest.
Sound is easy loud enough for me.
Still waiting though for the 14.1.G.2.259 update in South Africa. I'm still on 1.534.
Yeah Sony ...finally a mini phone which has not been robbed of processing power and cheap camera but just the screen size ..which was what i was looking for all this years 4-4.5 inch is the perfect size for me.But hope its also water proof like its Big brother , Cant wait to see the official launch
Z1 has been released, why Sony does not focus on 1 flagship like Samsung or Apple. It is great if they offer just 1 or 2 flagships each years and they should focus on developing related software. With so many products released, it is difficult for Sony to provide sufficient support for their products. In addition, Sony names products like z, z1,zu,Z1s....which makes customers confused.
..sony just cannot get away with d waterproof phone i think they had 2 make a lots of compromises cause of the phone being waterproof the very 1st compromise was a choice of screen they have to use the washed out TFT screen , no baterry access then low speaker volume and i think cause of the same reason d Z and Z1 had to loose on camera quality compaired to NOTE II and NOTE III inspite of all of them using the Sony camera sensors...and whats the logic of giving no XENON flash in Z1 and just giving weak camera flash just compare the pics of NOTE III and Z1 with flash on NOTE III wins hands down. btw i am waiting for d S5's officail specs list..really hoping for 16 mp with OIS with a XENON flash if thats too much too ask for then they sund atleast give a more powerfull flash and if S5 wud be waterproof thats great but i wud never buy it with the negatives of Z and Z1 ...as mentioned above....samsung i know u r going to target the holidays and try 2 launch S5 in rush plz make it a all rounder device ..

Angles improved. Better battery life. Battery size increased. Smaller phones with high end specs. Soon to be delivered. Updates in a reasonable time frame. Seeding in November. Sony has done about as much as you can ask a tech giant to do without completely bending to the general consumers will.
Anonymous, 23 Oct 2013Xperia play 2 coming soon too.dedicated gaming phones have never been successful, ie, xperia play and nokia ngage, surely best alternative is a 2013 xperia phone as it would have ps3 dual shock 3 support and a gameklip/or homemade bracket

Alot of reviewers dismiss Sony smartphone displays simply based upon it's weaknesses. Which of late has mainly been it's poor viewing angles at slight to drastic angles. But what they fail to mention in most cases. Sony brings the closest thing you'll get to a small Hi-def television experience. Whereas HTC brings the best All-Around experience, Samsung brings the most vividly stunning visual experience & LG brings a more natural & crisp experience. It all depends on preference. But Sony displays are anything but underachieving.
this isn't even real ("take this with a pinch of salt")
sony dont have to compete with other brands they are smart
look at what they did with the Z and the Z1
brought out an average flagship
waited for everyone elses Flagships
and took them all down
Sony is a smart Company and i plan to stick with them
although i was tempted by the Note 3
Tried the HTC One mini in a shop, and I found it so nice to hold, but I know the specs are way behind this Z1S. Sony don't hesitat on releasing this phone worldwide, it will surely affect the sales of your existing flagship Z1, but you are in the right track. Z1 is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE to hold with it's HUMUNGOUS bezels and less curvy corner, it will be saved by Z1S soon hopefully.
4.3" 720p with SD800 SOC will beat even the iphone 5s in benchmarks. And love that it is water/dust resistant-this is how Sony cared for their customers. I had and LG G2-a near perfect phone in terms of battery, slim bezels surrounding the stunning 5.2" display but am having a hard time writing an sms due to its width. Now Sony understood that high-end smartphones doesn't need to be 5" or more. So far it's always been Apple who undertand that comfort in one-handed usage of a high-end device is preferred by users, Sony just followed suit.
sony bringing alot of phones alot lately thats 3 in the last 6 Months
the only problem sony display had were the viewing angel. and its will causing a huge problem for a user that more often viewing the display in a narrow angel. but for a user that looking it in a normal way, i dont find any flaws with sony display. :-)
