Peter, 04 Dec 2025Brother, you can literally download SteamOS on these devices to use.So paying the cost of of a windows license for a full priced product not subsidized by steam, questionable post-sale support just to slot in SteamOS on it?
Yeah, no. Just get a steam deck or wait for SteamOS on ARM to arrive so you can install it on a Retroid Pocket for much cheaper.

I have to say I dont quite understand the point of these "handhelds" (that barely even resemble handhelds, at that). I guess compared to the last GPD this one at least has a battery built in.

To me it seems like the goal for these devices is to mindlessly spam the highest numbers possible (Best cpu, highest res/refreshrate, most memory/storage etc.) without trying to make a balanced, well rounded product that ends up being a good experience.

Seeker2023, 03 Dec 2025Better than Nintendo, i guessNintendo's hardware is and always have been low tier product aimed to get the cheapest BOM possible (because the focus of what they're selling is the games, not the console). This ayaneo product is more closer to PC master race than the console peasant, aimed for gaming enthusiast who are willing to pay top money for monster specs...

Seeker2023, 03 Dec 2025Better than Nintendo, i guessIt depends on what you want. If you want to play Mario Kart World, this device can't run it. You can have both this device and a Nintendo Switch 2, by the way.

But does anyone really believe this is "innovation," this is "technology"?

I always see only arrogance and presumption, coupled with extremely high costs, and always to the detriment of the end user.

So, when will true innovation arrive?

The cosmos is efficiency and optimization, the solar system is efficiency and optimization, planet Earth is efficiency and optimization, even your primate-like physical structure is efficiency and optimization.

The only place in space and time that isn't being used efficiently and optimally is the brain.

These are the results, results that are mostly just a very expensive "look at me, look at me, everyone, I did it too" exercise.

Ah! So, to innovate, do you have to be a voyeur? (of others?)

This new toy from AYANEO is nice, but essentially useless and expensive.

Like almost all portable devices from other OEMs these days.

Chinese companies don't realize yet, that screen on handheld devices more than 1080 will suck . And first of all performance will suffer from a such idiotic decision.

Lenovo legion 2 found their mistakes from previous generation, but here ... Still nothing smart ... And of course price of Chinese devices can't beat asus/lenovo/valve...

They should have given more, or max out the airline approval from 100-160wh. at least 159wh. Yes the allowed limit for non-approval is less than 100, but more than 100 and less than 160wh, you need approval before flight.

Airline allows this as long as you have airline approval certificate it is allowed.

Check you airline of choice and see the regulation.
