dont waste your time buying this phone with this kind of os. in the future they will not support it again. like bada os. what a waste of money
Tizen is not just mobile platform. Samsung has a huge plan this OS, which includes it entire consumer electronic appliances like TV. Tizen will tie them altogether. Samsung's plan is to offer a complete solution. If you develop software in Tizen, it will run on Samsung TV which will also run Tizen. Do you see their vision? Even their traditional electronic appliances are going to completely change and become smart, like the smartphone. I can definitely see what they're trying to do here.

Samsung must thinking another alternative OS to freeing Samsung from any manipulations. But who knows their visions?

Its called busi... moreThe source code for Android is available under free and open-source software licenses. How can you have more profit margin for in-house OS which you have to spend to develop, maintain and support? With Android, all that Samsung spends on is customization and some support. Not to mention the profits you won't get with a much much smaller user-base?
Is there really a compelling reason to spend "significant investment" (time, money, effort, etc.) into another Linux-based open-source OS? What is wrong with Android that cannot be better improved with the same "investment"? See, once-established OSes are struggling to survive against iOS and Android. Others have tried this and have failed (Bada, Maemo, Meego, etc.). What's new with Tizen? What can it offer users that current OSes can't?

One has to go. Samsung is making the first move. Tizen has a buz, at least in the GNU/Linux community due to the origins of the project. But is it really going to work? Well, let's take into account the fact that every google app has an samsung version, wich means that the base for Tizen has already been placed. And, despite the fact that it is not always appreciated, touchwiz have pretty nice native apps, enough for some of my friend to refuse the idea of getting rid of it, just because they will lost some native samsung features. Well done, samsung have a shot, they have the technology, the power and the money, the only thing missing is... the customers!
Well as for me the Tizen is not a good platform because it's a replica of Android, maybe they should work harder, the interface is not different at all....

Its called business, something you obviously don't understand.
Sammy, you make those nobody-needed features like airview, you heavily customize Android with your TouchLag and your S-Voice is the slowest helper. Now you want to make your own OS? Are you dumb?
google shall score over any other tizen etc .. even apple ios 2nd place to google .. and windows os nokia is lagging 3rd place - small market share .. shame google etc dont have longterm loyality for samsung -worlds largest cellphones seller ..customers the losers in this fragmentations ..
LoL this OS just a combination of WP and ANDROID it sucks -_- and it is simply TOUCH WIZ alone -_-sucks SKIN -_- jolla OS is better I guesss-_-
Funny thing, usually reviewers only complaints with Samsung devices are somehow related to Touchwiz, and now they are making a Touchwiz phone? HAHAHAH!
