This is a scare tactic....I've been rooted for as long as I've used Android. Let's look at the benefits. Ad-Away host files to prevent ads that can potentially install unwanted software, build.prop tweaks to extend battery life, freedom of custom roms if you unlock the bootloader...namely CyanogenMod for those mid-range phones that are ignored by manufacturers.
Now let's look at phones with locked bootloaders and that are not rooted. Ability to select unknown sources and install pirated apps...if Google really cared they would remove that feature. Free apps from the Play Store that load your phone with unwanted bloatware and ads. Loss of freedom to use CyanogenMod which goes against the open source ideology. I don't recall my computer having the restriction of using only one particular Linux distro pre-installed by the manufacturer.
Bottom line. I've never gotten a virus on my Android phone. Then again, I'm not that eager to install questionable apps found in torrents and such.
I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting malware on Symbian. It doesn't even come with NSAware.

I've been using phones with custom roms and have been downloading pirated apps from apkmania.com amd never had any of these malware threats. It's just you are a noob at using Android.
AnonD-176544, 11 Nov 2013Thats why Nokia Lumia and Windows Phone is Great.nobody will bother making malware for a few people... btw windows have most of viruses and malware on pc platform, wp is currently safe because of low number of devices.
I don't know what they talking about ?.? Malware ?? What is it ? I never see any malware on my phone and I never use any anti-virus security app. Just use your common sense to surf the web or download things.
CARLOS , 11 Nov 2013i think the best is android, because it has so many aplications for virus .. i like android nokia widowos phones it is good, but, nobody use that because we have android, í'm sure android will have aplications protect our phones..
No problems with mine either, although i doubt I've ever downloaded more than 20 apps in total in the 3 years of using Android, 10 of which are still on there.
Avoiding services from google makes our company secure. All in on office 365 and now lumia 820, 925 and 1020 on Windows phone 8. We Åre happy with the progress in the platform.
nothing problem with me and my droid phones til now. its just bs from the OS competitors fanboys hahaha... lol. go cry with your wp and ios pfftt
Never had a problem in the 3 to 4 years I've used android and I've been rooted for 2½ of those years without issue.
As for the competition, I don't like blackberries, I think windows phone is ugly, and iPhone is too locked down and I use my phone a lot as a mass storage device so iOS is out anyway.
But that is just me, different people want different things from their devices, that's why there are so many.
wow wow.. android getting more holes..
Nokia WP, iOS, are the best..
i think the best is android, because it has so many aplications for virus .. i like android
See... This is revenge from hackers. Droid users keep download free stuff and cheating developer. They refuse to play developers for their hard work.. So this is how they get even. Stealing unaware self centered droid user's personal details.
Tip: do not root, do not cheat, do not download crap. Be honest, and support developers. Then maybe u will not get hacked.. And get updated apps / games faster..
geordie81, 11 Nov 2013that has always been the case, android is open sourced, where as IOS is draconian, as long as ... moreThen manufacture ur own phone! even the way u want to use it has been designed by somebody for u to use it, ur post is ambiguous
AnonD-136500, 11 Nov 2013Not entirely true... Iphones are the best selling fones in the US and they're not susceptible ... moreThe thing is Apple suppose to be able to contain it if they get hit, if they can't or take too long then all Apple users are farked.

Iphones are the best selling fones in the US and they're not susceptible to malware as easily as android. I think being open source is the problem. Still prefer android tho
