I bought a note 3 online from dubai and it's asking sim unlock pin code... there's a card in the box which mentions about the region lock and also it says that to activate the phone we need to use the regional sim card and make a cumulative call over 5 min from that card so does this work??? or the problem continues?
Hi all, I just spoke to the technical support team for Samsung UK.
My issue: I bought an unlocked note 2 in Dec 2012. Used 2 different UK sims with no probs. Went to Morocoo and then Dubai on holidays and found that I cant use a foreign sim in it.
Their response: To make it region unlocked, i have to use a UK sim in it when I go to Dubai and make a 10 minute call to a UK number. This will unolock it. I double checked with their senior manager.
Is this right? are they just taking the piss?
I purchased a an S4 from KSA to get it back home. I got troubled with this stupid and unnecessary complication from Samsung region lock. I think I will refund this phone and get another one from a different maker who respects me, protects my investment, and most importantly doesn't tell me what country to visit and what country not. this is my first and last Samsung ever.
i bought s4 from saudi. and firstly i inserted indian sim and asks unlock code .after this by making 5 min call using saudi sim would unlock my phone?
irfan, 25 Apr 2014i have the same problem... if u find any solution please email me at email@example.comI have also same problem please tell me how can solved?
Danoh, 09 Mar 2014My heart froze when I saw on a sticky which has to be ripped to open the box to my new Note 3 ... moregot to try to know. I haven't tried and I don't want to. But there are reports from users Samsung is lying about this, and after sufficient use the phone still wouldn't accept overseas sim cards. I would stay away from Samsung anyway and go to a company which respects and appreciates its own customers and their mentality.
I wouldn't bother, 5 minutes or not, Samsung can talk all those 5 minutes themselves and unlock their unsold phones. Regional lock!!! seriously??? very stupid move Samsung, very stupid. No Samsungs for me, as if their build quality was that great anyway. Compared to Nokia Samsungs are built like shit. Ah, now Blackberry's updated OS is also Brilliant. What else is Samsung bringing in other than some mumbo-jumbo specs (that all have anyway) in flimsy plastic bodies that would break in 5 seconds. And now regional lock? You can stick up all those regionally-locked phones up your own ass Samsung.

Common_636, 14 Nov 2013Samsung may lose many consumers for this. for persons like myself that has to import my unlock phoneYes, Samsung pissed me off to no end. I bought Galaxy Note 3 and The Gear recently in Shanghai, before that S3 and S4. I have changed the language from Chinese to English, but most of the functions are still in Chinese. Samsug app shop sucks completely. Note 3 is powered by Google's Android, why can't I use GooglePlay? Completely idiotic. I am going with Apple in the future. Forget also about Samsung service. It's seems that Samsung wants to please just itself, it's being it's own worst enemy. Anyone wants to buy almost new Note 3 and The gear?
Hiflyer, 07 Apr 2014Guys, I have been frustrated for the last 2 weeks with Samsung care. I have raised a reque... morei have the same problem... if u find any solution please email me at email@example.com
I want to buy a samsung galaxy note 3 from online in Dubai, where it is mentioned "Note: Regional Locking Unlocked" in a good deal..What does that mean? Can i use it when i travel back to india? Or does it hamper any company update? Please help.
well, many are not happy about this lock.. but, I am happy with this because now I know that I am purchase the original set from Samsung. We can't make everyone happy with one thing, but sure, there are many out there will still appreciate what Samsung implement which protect their customer. Good job Samsung and I will be your loyal customer from now on.. just make us more good phone and bring us better customer service.
I have been frustrated for the last 2 weeks with Samsung care. I have raised a request to unlock my Note 3 ( 9005 Model ) which was purchased in KSA. Made 2hrs of local call while i was in KSA . As soon as i put in a India Sim , Unlock code is being asked. Did anyone manage to unlock a KSA brought Note 3.
My heart froze when I saw on a sticky which has to be ripped to open the box to my new Note 3
"European Model; This product is only compatible with a SIM card issed from a mobile operator within Europe" ...
which seem to say I can't do my usual swap with a local SIM card when I'm abroad!!!
I got an emailed reply from Samsung UK, which said if I used a SIM from a non-European region, the phone may be locked but could be unlocked at a dedicated Samsung service centre.
But they went on to say that once it was activated normally by using a UK SIM card (for 5 - 10 mins?) "the regional SIM lock is automatically released" and I "can use other region’s SIM card when travelling."
They added; "The regional SIM lock has been applied ... through a software update in selective markets" for older mobile models.
I haven't had the chance to test this out with another region's SIM card as yet. But I am greatly reassured by an official reply from Samsung UK.
I had purchased Samsung S4 I9505 from Saudi Arabia. I am currently unalbe to use other region sim except Saudi service provider.
As soon as I insert other region SIM, it asks for Network unlock code.
Please let me know if we use the local sim, then it will enable services for other region as well. Or is there any other method to unlock the netwok lock.
