BEFORE the update - no mention of region lock by STEALTH .. PITY ! ALL this samsung frauds on customers NOTHING to do with socalled grey sales !!!! we had unlocked international version from legal sources -paid full market price .. good job apple is kicking samsung hard in USA courts ..
Common_636, 14 Nov 2013Samsung may lose many consumers for this. for persons like myself that has to import my unlock phonePeople also forget that Samsung has a pretty silly policy (in my opinion anyway) of only making 3g versions of certain phones (S4, Note 3) in some countries.
This is being done even though there are carriers who will have or are just beginning to get 4g/LTE service in those countries (Thailand for example). People who want 4g were bringing in phones bought in other countries/regions, now I guess they'll be buying competitor's phones to get 4g functionality.
In the case of the S4 and Note 3, Samsung created this problem by having phones with different 2g/3g/4g radio combinations.
Samsung could stop all this silliness by not worrying about the additional 35-50 USD difference in cost for offering the phone with the appropriate 2g/3g/4g radios for each country.
I won't even get into the fiasco their Snap400/Exynos chipset created on the S4.
All Samsung is doing is turning customer's off with this nonsense.
also the mentioned non-EU-Countries on the label (Foto of source-text) are included! The German "sowie" means "besides"! Greetings, Robert
Was going to buy a Note 3, but will stay away from Samsung phones until they do away with this B.S.
Making their grey market distribution problem the consumer's problem is not the solution. Besides, how long do you think it will be before people who are making money on the grey market sales figure a work around?
Bad move Samsung.
AnonD-126854, 14 Nov 2013LOL. G2 who?
Nothing compare with Note 3, man. Remember it!
And no "lock" there,... moreI like samsung, but whether you like it or not this is total BS from them. Yeah, the Note 3 might be the best product in the market but the there are some other good choices like the LG G2, where I won't have to be worried about some stupid company coming up with a stupid idea and spoiling my smartphone experience.
Samsung seriously isn't worth it, they are now in the same category with Apple on my list.
AnonD-126854, 14 Nov 2013LOL. G2 who? Nothing compare with Note 3, man. Remember it! And no "lock" there,... morelike it or not, LG G2 its one of the best smartphones of all time, this is just the beginning of Samsung's end, LG its on the come up & have proved its here to stay
Big mistake by Samsung. Not really a good enough reason to region lock a phone. Stupid mistake Sammy
AnonD-126854, 14 Nov 2013Great move from Samsung. They did it for the local sellers , not for themselves. They even los... moreActually no, they did it so that they can charge whatever they want in your region, without having to worry about competition from "grey imports" which come from regions where the phone is cheaper.
You are being screwed by a corporation and liking it.
techie, 14 Nov 2013thank God LG for the G2, more reasons to go LG instead of samsung, its stupid to go through al... moreLOL. G2 who?
Nothing compare with Note 3, man. Remember it!
And no "lock" there, if you buy it from your local seller.
Samsung can go to hell! After 3 Samsung phones I am switching to something else at next purchase. In addition I will boycot all other Samsung products.
thank God LG for the G2, more reasons to go LG instead of samsung, its stupid to go through all that hassle after paying over $500-$600, they outta be making my life easier, not harder after all the money they make off me
Sorry Samsung, for next phone I will look different vendor. Samsung, Apple my pocket is locked for you ;)
