WOW !! I can't get enough of the ignorance in here. Everyone saying MS is against Android . No Google services !!
Yes ! Because this is microsoft and nokia trying to make an alternative to google's android (google just owns an android version .) To put it simply Sony makes a television (normal one's we see at our homes) . Looking that samsung makes a projector but people are less interested in it because they already like Tv . So samsung makes Tv too but keeps all buttons at the bottom bezel of the screen . If some people look at samsung tv and tells that the tv wont work because the buttons are not at the side bezel like sony and the tv doesn't have sony branding !! Does that make sense even remotely ? So , Ms is trying to become an equivalent android provider to google so that they could increase their business area when they would be giving android to all those chinese manufacturers which gives more income to MS than selling Wp for 5 years with only nokia to make it . If more and more people start buying it and MS develops alternatives for google's services them they will be at loss . Because google is a online service provider so it will be the end of google if people learn to live without its services . So no google service is absolute bs . About apps ? Its all android ! with ms's money it can ask developers to put apps simultaneously to their store and can raise a big enough app store from within months !! This is also better than limited asha os .
[deleted post]It is not just a copy of android it has google app market with its here map service.
nick, 11 Dec 2013When Nokia use Android they will be a king again!Samsung without Android is nothing but Nokia ... moreEven if this phone is real, it will not see the light of day. Nokia is being bought by Microsoft, who have no interest in Android.
Nokia were running out of money, even though their WP stuff is moving. Hence why Microsoft bought them. They could not afford them to fail, as without Nokia Microsoft has no WP, as Nokia is 70-80% of the market.
If I was looking to get bought by Microsoft, working on an Android Lumia phone would be a powerful tool.
Or as is often the case, companies work on multiple things, trying things out. It is the not the first time Nokia has looked at Android, and Linux has been done several times within Nokia- Most never seeing the outside world.
Today is a little late, Elop wasted three years...
PS Where are the successors such models as E72, E51, N82, N95 etc. ?
Phonenab, 12 Dec 2013This was one of the most stupid comments I have ever read here on gsmarena. First of all, low... moreActually the better example of the kind of customization that is to be expected is similar to what you see in the Fire OS of the Kindle tablets (like mentioned in the article as best example).
One could even provide more examples by pointing to the newly release Firefox OS devices. It's that kind of Android flavor, one which isn't supposed to look or feel like Android (at all) -- although deep down it is really an Android variant.
pipo, 11 Dec 2013I read 2 things in this "article" that I dislike: 1) Low-cost 2) heavily modifie... moreThis was one of the most stupid comments I have ever read here on gsmarena. First of all, low-cost only means it won't have snapdragon 600 or 800. It might be dual core which is more than enough for most people's needs. Second, heavily android refers to the UI and some custom apps. Take for example Flyme of Meizu and other chinese (good) brands where they HEAVILY modified android. The best example is Xiaomi, heavily modified yet exceedingly beautiful and resourceful.
pipo, 11 Dec 2013I read 2 things in this "article" that I dislike: 1) Low-cost 2) heavily modifie... moreWhat really matters is if the hardware will be in the budget sweet-spot (which is where the "low-cost" part can play a big factor). If it does and we happen to get official Cyanogenmod support then we are set! Full Android without restrictions.
I read 2 things in this "article" that I dislike:
2) heavily modified Android version
Which means no Google play. No Google maps, no google drive, no google syncing (this isn't such a bad idea though). Basically this phone is just to call and text. It can probably do less than those stupid Asha's. Yeah, way to go Nokia. Dumb and Dumber :-(
When Nokia use Android they will be a king again!Samsung without Android is nothing but Nokia with Android is something.
Whether this phone comes out or not, Nokia will use it to test it's services i.e. Here Maps etc... on an Android phone. Once it's Mobile division goes to Microsoft hopefully it will then be free to put its services (Google/ Apple permitting) on any mobile platform.
Raj Khan(India), 11 Dec 2013I don't this is android phone. Android phone have 3 captive buttons. And its showing only one.... moreAlthough I am also doubtful that Nokia would release an Android (it seams too intelligent to be true), the fact the phone only appears to have one mark bellow the screen doesn't exclude any of the following scenarios:
- It may have two additional buttons, one on each side of that mark, that light up when active.
- The heavily modified Android version actually not follow the Android standards (the interface will be completely different, it isn't supposed to show it's actually Android underneath, so they may opt to keep the Asha navigation scheme)
- The other buttons may be shown on-screen like most other modern Androids.
too be honest without being biased. i think this would be the saviour of Nokia. They would get a big huge market share. and make lots of money. i think it makes sense.
Shivam96, 11 Dec 2013http://youtu.be/kU2JTuq1Nek Here it is a "WINDOWS PHONE" so called "LAG"....Read comments...after windows tango 7.5 the bug has gone....!!! Do u know of no ART mode for older nexus models and no kitkat for Samsung nexus...see this how pathetically Androids lag problems are fixed ;P
ussysada, 11 Dec 2013I would buy this phone. Nokia make good phone hardware it is only the OS that is the problem. ... moreThey r trying to develop their own OS. u know how much money & time Nokia have spend on Symbian? Samsung was trying to develop own OS (Bada OS) as well, back on the day when android just starting up, but not successful so they quickly stick on android. Nokia is just acting too late on this, or they r simply too proud of themselves. He was once a king, after all.
I don't this is android phone. Android phone have 3 captive buttons. And its showing only one.......Window 8.1 blue os is coming in Q2 2014. Ya its too long for us. But competition should be there........If competition is there then customers will enjoy advantages............:)
Raker, 11 Dec 2013no job has been lost. all job just got transfer to ms. stop trolling have a lifeUR WRONG ! nokia jobs losses impending !! stop being blind to facts -read media
ussysada, 11 Dec 2013I would buy this phone. Nokia make good phone hardware it is only the OS that is the problem. ... moreThere is no problem with the OS on the Nokia phones i'm just fine with WP8, if you don't like it is just a matter of taste, not a problem.
Nokia tried to deal Google policy about exclusive services like Here Maps, Drive with Android it was just difficult to compete with Google Maps and other services... because Google don't like competition in potential advertising services, even in Android.
