I installed the latest firmware yesterday (UK). The only thing I've noticed is that the performance of the phone has slowed significantly i.e. navigating between screens, opening and replying to message, opening apps etc. Now I get quite a lag between these tasks where the screen may go semi-transparent for a second or 2 before performing the action. Additionally I did a full backup of the phone first and a restore after the firmware update, and still lost half my apps and all my screensavers amongst other things. So, I would think carefully before doing this, for me the fixes are not worth the extra hit on performanc and the hassle of re-installing a load of stuff.

I had to remove the email address from the nokia email website and then removed the application from my phone. Then reinstalled everything. Still Not sure why it happened though.
UK user on 3. I changed my product code to a Euro code and updated the software fine, but as soon as I tried using the phone it crashed and froze on the start up screen. May just be the software isn't compatible with 3 so be careful.

tomcat, 17 Jan 2009there is no such thing as a purplish-tint of the camera.
Please Read carefully.
Before takin... morewow. such an e71 fanatic.
of course the purple tint (or hue or whatever you call it) problem is there with the camera when using auto white balance. i was not asking for a workaround, i was asking if the new firmware still has that problem or not.
It just seems to me that as a business tool the Blackberry based on our experience will work in difficult reception areas whereas the E71 will not. If you need your emails on time without problems there is no substitute for the Blackberry. In SE Asia we have found the Blackberry works but the E71 does not even have a signal on the same networks in difficult reception areas.
MACEDONIA, 15 Jan 2009gsmarena is nokia promoter, but nokia e71 is rubish! design 0, performance 0 , that`s itnothing personal but if you don't have anything smart to say, you would better hod your.. gsmarena is just presenting the facts: Nokia is the 1st among the phone producers in the world. It has a phone for everyone. I was a SE fan but there are some things that they just won't change.. so, I bought my first Nokia phone, and nothing was the same again ;).
The E71 just was PHONE OF THE YEAR! and gsmarena had nothing to say there so.. open your eyes and.. shut your mouth !
abc, 17 Jan 2009does this update fix the purplish-tint of the camera?there is no such thing as a purplish-tint of the camera.

Before taking pictures you should know some basic things. There are tons of documentation but let's try solving your problem.
The mobile phones, no matter how expensive or sophisticated, can't be compared with a photo camera. Nokia could never pride to much with their cammeras [like SonyEricsson for example] but, with a few hints, there are nice pictures to be taken. Try this:
- when in camera mode press LEFT and a short menu wil appear on the right;
- go DOWN to WHITE BALLANCE !
- here you have 4 modes: Automatic, Sunny, Incandescent and Fluorescent
On AUTOMATIC the sensor is not smart enough to feel the light in any situation and tends to take purple pictures. But as you change to Sunny, Incandescent and Fluorescent you should see a gr8 difference in colour.
To experience beautiful pictures [as I have with this phone's cammra] try other cool features like: Exposure compensation, Scene modes, and even a sort of Manual Focus. [hold the "T" (2) key before taking a shot and in a few seconds it will focus on that speciffic area!]
Nokia E71 is really a GR8 phone

I have a NOKIA E71 (RM-346)and had the 110.07.127 firmware. I've now updated to 200.21.118 and the result is:
- exchange mail problems resolved [it includes all new certificates]
- bigger character map font when writeing
- much better battery life when using e-mail
- spotless Internet Radio. Really works gr8
- Yahoo Go [last version] won't connect to the internet]
- can't connect my laptop to the internet when using bluetooth connection. Keep received the message that the modem is busy or not configured properly, but before I've used it lots of times with no problem.
These are the first impressions, the rest.. soon.
