it`s sad that Europe doesn't understand that Nokia isn't a European company anymore, they sold their soul to the devil (aka Microsoft)... making room to a lame company on the European market by killing good builders, is no good for the consumer. WP has no future on mobile market, except for people that don't know anything (or care) about the power or the usefulness of the new phones...A company that wants to live only on money won from lawsuit trials is no good.
AnonD-171, 22 Dec 2013um no..... Pantents ruin creativity and are only implemented to controlled... Ad nothing would... moreHow would you feel when you invented something and I mean you spent years of hard work and millions of dollars in R&D to develop a new technology and somebody just stole that invention from you and made more profit from your invention than you did? And if you're a music artist, would it be okay to you to let just anybody pirate your music and distribute it for free without your permission eventually leaving you with little to no profit at all because there is no such patent and copyright protection law?
Justice has been served. If I invented something, I wouldn't let others steal it without even paying for the hard work I had done. That's right.
Great move Microsoft, shutting down HTC will be of great help its the only company left with some interest in wp8 space barring your own boy Nokia.

AnonD-27765, 22 Dec 2013Microsoft don't own Nokia's patents. Microsoft also license those patents from Nokia. but microsoft is nokias boss so it dictates things
AnonD-183132, 22 Dec 2013if I invented something, I'd share it with everyone else & let all human being be able to use itNo, you wouldn't. That's just your optimism talking.
AnonD-27765, 22 Dec 2013Android doesn't sue anyone because there is nothing original on Android. Every Android feature... moreErr no, it's a open source system that means everyone is free to use or modify the features as they desire which is why they an't patented. Thats why over the last couple of years Apple have copied them quite heavily at that and to a certain extent Microsoft.
Patent ruling is good for value owner idea. However Nokia, you stupid dirty pig. Your products are noone interesting now a day. You jealous HTC. I'm HTC Super Fun. HTC is giving best things to customers. And your patents are out of date. There should not be valuable to ban products.
One week later, they will suspend it just like what happened in UK. Nokia banned HTC devices in UK then a week later, they suspend it.
AnonD-183132, 22 Dec 2013if I invented something, I'd share it with everyone else & let all human being be able to use itPatents are very important. Firstly, patents provide incentives to the individuals; in particular, the inventors deserve recognition for their creativity and material reward for their marketable inventions. Secondly, the incentives encourage innovation, which ensures that the quality of human life is enhanced. Thirdly, protection stimulates research, which results in technological development. Fourthly, it enables the inventor to recoup their investment for the money and time spent developing the ideas in Research and Development. Lastly, the use of patent documents enables future researchers not to re-invent the wheel. Without patents the industry will collapse. Innovations will not put forth. And copying, stealing and piracy will be prevalent.
i think using someone else work is good, only if you give credit to the owner. which HTC and others don't do.
AnonD-136279, 22 Dec 2013You need to grow up, if they needed to "Really" protect anything, they would sue EVE... moreMaybe you should check the facts on the issue first. Nokia has a licensing deal with both of the big boys, Apple and Samsung. Those two companies already pay between 300-600million euros per year to Nokia as licensing fees for the use of Nokia patents in their products. HTC has not signed the licensing deal to use Nokia patents and is using those without compensation to the company that has invented and applied those patents (Nokia). So the poster you were replying was right in saying you should grow up or maybe you just lack the facts and basic understanding of business. Take your pick.
