AnonD-164438, 08 Jan 2014So you're saying that people buy Samsung more than the others because they're more affordable?... moreActually it has *A LOT* to do with Android making them successful, since it is Android that allows them to plainly choose whatever hardware configuration they want (from the cheapest of the cheapest to the very latest of the best) and still have their new phone quickly on the store selves.
Never underestimate the cost (both in time and money) of having to maintain your own OS (like in Asha), neither underestimate the constraints that come from only having the choice between a handful of pre-selected SoCs (looking at WP).
It's Android that just plainly removes those constraints and worries, allowing them to quickly give the public the most appealing (cheap and profitable) option for any selected time.
Harmattan, 09 Jan 2014Nokia can make money (or even keep market share, dont make space for other companies) on Andro... moreI agree with you to a certain extent, and does not need to mention that (Samsung, for example) have't fared significantly in the mobile phone market only after been used Android, which like other of other companies had achieved success after using this system and; of this role contributed to the Share up more space of mobile phone market .. So I think that if Nokia will use Android with providing a real capabilities, competitive specifications and features... will gain more and more market space and impressive success.
Likely that Nokia did not achieve financial success with Microsoft OS, despite the widespread OS from Microsoft and despite the fact that Nokia is the largest manufacturers of mobile phones and one of the most successful, but the systems are considered more successful Android to run mobile phones .. Good move from Nokia.
Nokia can make money (or even keep market share, dont make space for other companies) on Android in 2010, 2011, maybe 2012 if they get good stuff like 1020 with Android (no need to waiting like on WP for update like fullhd etc.). But Elop cant allow Nokia to do that, imagine 808/1020 in 2012 with Android, maybe not best selling phone of year but sure 8-10mln+. No need to wait for phablet on WP, wait on working PureView on WP, FullHD working on WP, wait quadcore cpu, wait for a lot of basic things need waiting on Microsoft favour.
Nokia can make in 2010-2012 phones with Android and with Windows Phone (where is the problem ?!) but not with Troj..Elop ;) If Nokia will make phones with Android, nobody will buy WP, most people buy Nokia phones, not phones with MS os. MS/Nokia promise support for Symbian until 2016 so what the hell did MS doing, maybe class suit ?
Is that really Android. For me it looks like the new windows phone release with notification center.
stupid move by nokia, stop making android phones, make a symbian phone at least one in a six months.

do you know 'classic English chocolate' called cadbury?? It is now owned by KRAFT, the US cheese company..
Too late! People have wait 4 to 6 years Nokia Android. Hype is gone. Microsoft company Nokia, not my choice.
very bad news, also how is that possible??. android is a very insecure OS you can find in the internet ways to break it and take all info inside an android device.im nokia since nokia 5125 and are the best devices ever, very secure, thought and very complete. if nokia change to that os they will loss a lot of their bigger fans.
my question is... What happens with the recent agreement with Nokia and MIcrosoft? does noy it breaks it ?
If Nokia does this product produce I wouldn't buy another Nokia phone. Nokia is good because the Windows phone operating system. If there was a better phone Android wanted more and cheaper than Nokia. This is a very very bad news
I'm using android since fiest sammy galaxy tab and using note2 since day 1 it came out.in my opinion if nokia had entered android realms 3 years ago then none of sammy , htc, lg and ... etc could have stood a chance to gain market share with current build quality and we could see a good competition quality wise.too bad nokia ignored android but I'm sure if they enter android with this phone and continue, they will make good benefit and we costumers will have good quality built phones for the money we pay.because infact I'm not satisfied with my sammy note2's build quality...too bad.
Gudumba Shankar, 08 Jan 2014No OEM other than Samsung floods the market with zillion variants of the same phone. That, and... moreSo you're saying that people buy Samsung more than the others because they're more affordable? Because they offer entry-level phones while the others do not.
And just so happens to incidentally offer Android as an OS. That has nothing to do with Android making them successful then. That has to do with careful planning and marketing.
Therefore it's poor planning buy other manufacturers. Too me that sounds like smart business and that no matter what OS Samsung was using, people would still buy because they offer the a cheaper price. So again...I'm missing something that you are trying to convey.
