We carry out IT security testing on mobile devices and I can assure you that from a security viewpoint Balckberry is ahead of most players. In order of security with 1 being the most secure blackberry has the least vulnerabilities with the lowest attack surface. Android has the most exploits with the greatest attack surface.

1. Blackberry 10.2 OS on Z10, Q10, Q5
2. Windows Mobile 8.0 (Nokia Hardware)
3. Apple iOS 7
4. Samsung Knox (Hardened Android)
5. Android 4.1 and later on Samsung, HTC hardware.

we've had the z10 for 11 months and love, love, love it. My work is switching to the Q10 in the spring, but I am hoping for a z30. Love the z10 so I am sure I will love the z30. No issues at all with it, they aren't going anywhere as almost all G7 governments use Blackberry and nothing else is a secure....plain and simple.

my stupidity, 24 Jan 2014Im one of those many people who wants to buy a BBRY Z10 phone but I'm afraid that BB will die ... moreBBRY already had history of unsupported devices. Remember BB Playbook? Earlier CEO, TH, had promised many times OS10 update to Playbook. But later, the same product was discontinued with no further updates, forget OS10. Z10 was launched at insane price & flopped all over the world. Z10 was written off by BB long ago; Z30 is on the way. Q5, being budget handset, was launched at insane price. For sure, BB will die in a couple of months leaving all the devices unsupported.

Everybody knows BBRY is dying platform. US DoD won't waste their money on BBRY. The news was just for publicity.

It was still great publicity for BB while it lasted and part of the effect of the whole incident will stick for the whole 2k14 and beyond.
