So the future is for phones without advanced features like LTE and low hardware specifications?
LOL - Best laugh I've had in a long time.
Low end? we should be thankful then, it means they care for those who cannot afford, just think if theres no low end, like apple, those who cannot afford will just wonder for smartphone, atleast nokia and MS didnt forget that theres a people that cannot afford a mid range price to high end
The end of contract pricing is coming and the low end will be the new high end in terms of value for money. As far as I've seen, l520 is the most value for money phone out there, sometimes when I advice people to buy it they comment about so called limitations of wp8, which were only in mango 7.5 such as bluetooth file transfer n gi and buy sammy galaxy y and trend or Chinese oems....and boy do they regret it within the next 3 months, the Chinese oems have zero service support and crap quality, Sammy gives them gingerbread and performance is utter crap on single core devices......and they say I should've bought a l520
This low-end trend for WP is not a bad thing at all... low-end handsets are usually a bridge for another more expensive phone if the user is satisfied. Since most feedback for the L520 - L521 is positive, is more likely those users will upgrade for another WP8 maybe a flagship phone. Takes it's time, but there is reward at the end.
Lumia 520 and Lumia 521 #1 and #2 bestsellers.
The low-end is where the majority of the sales are, so it doesn't seem like such a bad thing.
Is not tragedy but also is not great or even good result, positive outcome will be if they sell more then N95 devices, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (15+ mln).
Not even dream about
http://mynokiablog.com/2013/09/05/mnb-rg-nokia-5230-the-unsung-hero-device/comment-page-1/ Nokia 5230 went on to sell 150 million! Migration to WP was rly gj! Cant they try Belle + MeeGo (new, fast, much better then WP, Elop kill MeeGo before give chance, he afraid WP will loss competition with MeeGo ? ), or Droid + WP + work on MeeGo ?
AnonD-27765, 30 Jan 2014The highend market is dominated by only the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S4/Note 3. No one's b... moreI have a z1 and a few friends have the HTC one, not everyone wants plastic or iOS
Good to see windows phone rise. Low end is where the future is. With Lumia 520 a company proved that adorable budget phones CAN CHALLENGE High end phone in terms of smoothness and speed. War is over if wp can continue follow this path win the low end and mid end then by end of 2015 IOS WILL be dead. After that android will die even a worse death.
There are lots of people here assuming that a low end skew is solely a WP phenomenon. Does anyone have any numbers on Android distribution? With the exception of Samsung, who also acknowledges that low end is helping to drive their growth, the top-selling Android OEMs aren't exactly known for being high end.
The Nokia Lumia 1020, Nokia Lumia 1520 and Nokia Lumia 925 are amazing smartphones. They defacate every other flagship smartphone out there in quality. Too bad only a few people get to experience using them.
I am a seller of cell phones in Mexico and the biggest reason why people buy Lumia is Nokia's reputation for being supposedly the best, but it is people that no knows phones or operating systems or anything like that. In those same people also can you sell him just for being a Asha Nokia. Obviously, these people buy a cell phone low price (Lumia 520) then realize it would be much better to buy an Android. And we know of smartphones, we don't take seriously the high-end Lumia lack of external memory slot and no battery to replace. When manufacturers understand that copying iPhone limitations are doomed to failure?
From the android point of view;
Wp is clearly a low end oriented concept - its all its designed and produced to be. I'm happy for Lenovo's move on Motorola - Android keeps expanding as the ultimate mobility tool and with more wearable coming up, it will only get more integrated into our daily categories.
I understand Audio is coming up with an all android controlled dash!
hope...microsoft follows the google path for what it had done to motorolla...
by selling NOKIA back to NOKIA itself...
hope they do it asap...
The reason why lumia 520 is doing well and not the higher end windows phone is,windows phoe is very limited os interms of functionality as it don't have much functionality like true multitasking ,notification center even it doesn't have separate volume control for diferent function ,so people don't want to go for high end phone with such a limited os and paying hige amount but they can use it on low end phone like lumia 520
AnonD-27765, 30 Jan 2014The highend market is dominated by only the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S4/Note 3. No one's b... moreThat because many people like the idea of microSD slot combined with large internal memory and removable battery and only Samsung is offering these.
Apple always had its fair share of fans so that's no surprise either.
I guess no one want to risk their money into platform with uncertain future.
Lumia 520 is more than enough to testing the water. If people satisfied they will buy higher spec WP for their next phone. Hopefully that'll be the case.
Not impressed. Microsoft is currently enjoying sales of rising Windows Phone with huge losses because those devices that can impact the chart are nowhere among them. Hope the Windows Phone 8.1 and the Microsoft/Nokia deal proves to be a game changer but I doubt it will do any difference at the current laziness by Microsoft.
