I have to admin that this is a great piece of Hardware. But unfortunately I'm still thinking that the great Hikaru phone from SE can beat this one.
Why? Because Hikaru comes equipped with WALKMAN 4.0 software and SE surely uses in a way eco-friendly production-process and materials. Hikaru is non-touch but the masses like non-touch phones. Touch phones are just favoured by a real tiny minority of people.
at first i though the OS was android.
now i wish the OS wud be android.
samsung make gr8 phones but usually its their OS that lets them down.
well done samsung!!!! they are really makeing good phone.....but.... Nokia is still far bigger and better, samsung makin pretty phones, nokia is overall and nokia sell more phones world wide. im a NOKIA FAN. BUT WHEN A PHONE COMPANY MAKES GOOD PHONES like SAMSUNG i CANT LIE SAMSUNG REALLY IS COMIN OUT HARD. Well done samsung!!!

The future belongs to Apple, Samsung and LG - as long as the latter two adopt a proper OS, such as Android. Nokia will be ok if they focus on business market. This new Samsung is a great idea.
lol @ Jack Wilson.
I've found its always a good idea to think before ya speak fella, comments like that give us englishmen a bad name!
GO ON SAMSUNG!!!!
I'm gonna make a prediction. Sometime between 2011 and 2013, Samsungs market share will be equal to or bigger than Nokias. And about time too, people finally seem to be getting wise to the fact that for far too long, Nokia have been riding on the coat tails of their wonderful models of yesteryear (6310, 5110, 3110, 3310, 8310 etc etc) and that their more recent offerings are completely devoid of any innovation or value for money.
Samsung seem to be the only ones out there pushing the boundries and taking some risks. Hope it pays off for them.
great.. not only is it eco friendly, but you can leave it in the sun when you are at lunch, or dealing with other things, and geting power without reacharging. if the solar baterys can handle a large decive like this one, imagine a nokia 3100 or other phones this size, would never get plunged in.
Jack Wilson, 13 Feb 2009what prat thought this up, a solar powered phone. i live in england so fat chance using that p... moreYou've got to understand that the solar panels are merely supplementary or the phone - it's not like a calculator. Perhaps if you just read the article you'd read that there is a charger for normal use.
Get a brain. How on Earthy would people use it indoors then?
Void, 13 Feb 2009Samsung can make good phones, but their UI is still behind Nokia, excepted when they are using... moreI agree.
And I really hope that solar power is going to be a basic thing on future phones. (and on cars… and on houses…. and on everything :) )
Wow, I am quite impressed with the rear solar panel. Great idea worth of using in every phone even as an auxiliary charger.
what prat thought this up, a solar powered phone. i live in england so fat chance using that phone over here, another thing, the touch pannels are on the back of the phone, now i dont know about anyone else but when i am holding and using my phone the back of it is normaly facing down, unless imi laying in my bed, but in that situation were am i going to get sun light from. this phone must only be able to be sold to people who live on a beach and constently lay on a deck chair faceup. the person who came up with the idea of this phone is clearly an aging hippy and should be sacked, just stick at what your good at hippy, go hug a tree dont design phones
GO SAMSUNG!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome idea and great looking phone hopefully it will inspire all of the mobile phone companies to do the same!!! Great step taken on your part! Congrats!
The Lord, 13 Feb 2009Now it is official for me: Nokia has lost the game to Samsung!
Samsung is far better in desi... moreSamsung can make good phones, but their UI is still behind Nokia, excepted when they are using Symbian.
We are witnesses of a real commercial and inovation war, and that's good for everyone.
