AnonD-22824, 01 Mar 2014Give me a proper phone with 6" full hd screen, 41 mp OIS & XENON flash, minimum 4500 ... moreYou should wait for a Nokia device, because still the high megapixels supported in android phone is 20, and the phone should have at least 16 cores to support a 41 mp camera and the battery in e
Remove Normal Camera, Insert 3D Dual Sensor Camera, Remove Screen, Insert 3D Screen...
Add Sim Module,
add a second Sim Module :)
I think they will bundle multiple features together, such as Battery/NFC/USB Connector - Wifi/Bluetooth/IR...
Maybe will be easy to make it waterproof using the perma magnet...
Awesome!
MdN8, 01 Mar 2014Phonebloks actually. Yes, this is nothing new.Phoneblocks was an idea the guy wanted a big company to get involved with. Google has done just that..
AnonD-183707, 01 Mar 2014anybody can thief any parts(ram, processor)google should make plastic back cover for that...or ... moreYeah, like a cover to go around the phone. Something that had, like, plastic and/or rubber. What if it even protected the phone too? Not so much a cover, but a... CASE!!
I wonder if this can allow for different OS's, too? Thus making it truly modular. In the (distant) future, something like this, when combined with enhanced home 3d printing capabilities, will definitely get my money.
Why does the name dodge, proffitt and sacks sounds like the perfect names to work on this kind of project :)), anyway seems interesting enough.
AnonD-239713, 02 Mar 2014One will be able to buy the Ara. Phoneblocks? Not so much. So, this is indeed a new consum... moreThis is Phonebloks. Motorola partnered with the original Phonebloks guys.
MdN8, 01 Mar 2014Phonebloks actually. Yes, this is nothing new.You do know this is Phonebloks, right? Not a knock-off, or another company stealing their idea... this IS Phonebloks: same people with the original idea, but they got funded.
4" is too small for me.. and 5" is quite large.. wish they had 4.5" one too!
Just a thought, Call it the "Android Assemble".

MdN8, 01 Mar 2014Phonebloks actually. Yes, this is nothing new.Who do you think hired the guy behind phoneblocks? Motorola, whom was with Google, and Google kept their development team.

So, this is indeed a new consumer product. A new idea? I don't think anyone claimed that.
AnonD-22824, 01 Mar 2014That wud b nice however it wud be very tough for the innovators...to do so :)What language is this?
Gee, 01 Mar 2014Just think when you drop that you may never find all the parts that happened to fly off when i... moreMost of the people are using stylish cases for their phones, there are various types like, gel cases for shok proofing, Saffire cases for hard tough covering etc. So parts will be there safe in side those covers even if it is fallen on ground.. Cheers..!
the best way in my opinion make it line in pcs. google provide the OS. manufacturers provide the hardware and drivers. you buy a different screen, camera, etc go on the manufacturer;s site and get the drivers to unlock the full potential.
i see some flaws with the actual design, if it's like the one in the picture: water and dust. all those components must be covered by a case to avoid dust, grease etc build ups. also water is very easy to go to the circuits even if we talk about sweat, or just drops of water.
i hope that rf antenna, wifi can be added to not integrated in mainboard. also would be nice if we;ll have the option to put whatever OS we like. just like in pcs. but i don;t think google will allow that, and apple for sure will not provide ios for different devices then their own
This is a noble idea.
It can happen very soon with the full support from component suppliers who make CPU like Qualcomm,RAM makers, display makers, camera module makers, mini speakers makers...etc. There will be another industry revolution since the PC.
They must have beat this with an ugly stick. Would yah like
