Xiaomi is slowing down: in the past they used to sell over 200k phones in under a minute or two, 34 minutes for 100k cheap phones is no feat.
I sold my iPhone 4S and replaced it with Redmi. This 4.7" phone have similar specs with Galaxy S3 and it's only S$169.
From my 1 month usage, it's totally worth the money.
1. Physic and build quality.
I'm impressed with what I got after unboxing it. The solid build and the finishing doesn't look like a cheap material. The 4.7" screen sports a nice grip and has just the right size for my hand.
2. OS and functionality.
Xiaomi's MIUI strikes a perfect balance between iOS' simplicity and Android's functionality by combining the best of 2 world.
It's 1 level OS, you wouldn't find the "All Apps" menu in MIUI just like any other Android phone. What you installed from PlayStore will be there in the home screen.
AND it has the widget functionality from Android!
I arrange my home screen this way, if I swipe left I can take a glance of any new email and whatsapp chats without opening the app itself.
Swipe right and got all the app list, kinda entering "iOS mode".
This is what surprises me, sporting 4.7" display with only 2000mAH battery and still able to survive the whole day!
In any normal Android phone, Display will be the biggest battery consumption (you can check this in battery usage menu). In MIUI it's only 1%. Yeap, and the biggest consumption is Android OS.
Keep in mind, it's PERCENTAGE. Assuming the Android used the same power as any other phone, then Xiaomi's display surely excel in battery consumption.
I hope my review gives a light for someone. Cheers!
Waiting for this to be available in my country too! A confirmed buyer here.

AnonD-50083, 30 Mar 2014HOW THE HELL can they stuff all that in there FOR THAT PRICE?! I don't think they pay their w... morethey dont have any human workers for the production and assembly, Xiaomi phones are manufactured by robots and machines, extremely high tech and advanced. the cost for building a single Redmi Note is 38 USD (including the packaging box, earphone and charger).
I had the Xiaomi Mi2 with extended batteries and I would have kept it forever if I could have run CyanogenMod on it (It might have it now, idk)
but I went for the then new Galaxy S4 4G just for the better support of ROMs
They must have changed the price because their site is showing that phone at $270. They don't have anything on there even close to $161
Whoever from China that bought iPhones there are just brainless.
would love to buy this, unfortunately it's not international but even if it was in South Africa the price would be inflated so much it would be pointless to buy_ for instance the old s3 mini sells for an equivalent of $300 ryt now, so you can just imagine_ I wonder if someone would be interested in starting a cellphone business here pls help us lol
Information from XIAOMI webpage

può funzionare con il 3g in italia ?
Xiaomi Administration Response:
"sorry to tell you that this phone is TD version which only supports 2G GSM and Chinese 3G which means you couldn’t use 3G out of China.3G WCDMA version maybe will release in May."
Jack, 30 Mar 2014I think if Xiaomi is serious about selling phones, they should aim to sell as many as possible... moreThey are selling as many as possible..the difference is they don't make 1o mil. of them to take a chance on that people buy them...like your aijphoney 5c

Blah blah blah 4g
Blah blah blah low cost mediatek
Are blind? That price for
-close samsung s4 performance
-huge 3200 battery
If you dont like it, dont buy it. Go buy an htc one m8 (if you can afford it)
I used 4 mediatek powered phones and delivered awesome performance at a very low price point. I never complained that I had a cheap mediatek phone coz I was laughing at your expensive and low performance samsung. Please!
