unlocking with that method (5min of talking) is not working flawlessly, more than that we (sales) had to sent imei of bought phone to service point, then wait for unlock code;
this applies to: i9300, i9195, i9505 and n9005 models;
c'mon mate you gotta be joking!!!not with the s5 too!seems like the end of samsung really is knocking at the door!
REGION LOCKS -unnecessary nuisance- makes mockery of world free trades .. surely DEATH of simfree AIRPORTS sales of s5 ..pity ! WHY NOT have similar world standards -prices- ? HAS SAMSUNG GONE GREY ?
Lets leave samsung to die in peace. Bring on the Sony HTC and Nokia! BTW the Nokia 930 seems like the phone to buy this year.
Idiotic move by the Samsung, in many countries smartphones have different prices, larger countries have cheaper smartphones presumably because they buy a greater number of devices from the manufacturer, what people from smaller countries with more expensive smartphones do is get a relative from abroad to buy them for them, or they order online from resellers if in EU (and thus exempt from import taxes), and thus can save up to 200 EUR on the high end smartphones. Now apparently Samsung thinks it is smart to screw those people who want to save some money, great thinking because now all those people will not buy Samsung, and some might even be unpleasantly surprised if they are uninformed of this, they buy it or order it from abroad, and it does not work for them. That will bring plenty of hate for Samsung. Example, you can buy Iphone 5S in England for 500 GBP, in countries like mine it costs around 650 GBP, that is quite a save especially for economies where 650 GBP is a monthly salary. Who cares if the smartphone gets "exported", it is sold legally one way or the other. It is not like someone is making copies they do not profit from. The real reason is that probably Samsung wants that money people save when buying abroad. Really greedy and it really ruins the image of Samsung for me, I dont think I am ever buying one of their smartphones again. Even Apple who is considered to be greedy by most people, did not do anything like this for their customers, wherever they buy their Iphones it is ok with Apple.
Samy, you have just give way to be overtaken by new comers like oppo and ZTE. May your soul rest in pieces.
Anonymous, 11 Apr 2014 What the .*u..c..#k is a grey market ?That which is neither White nor Black.
as a samsung galaxy note owner (quite good btw) and more or less fan, i am really disappointed by this. and what's their problem with grey market phone sells. it's not illegal, y'know. maybe i don't want to buy my phone from an authorized retailer or network operator, because those are always a lot more expensive!!!
I think these guys have made enough money and they are tired to continue with the business. They have frustrated me, their number one fan. They will bring the exynos version to our country and expect us to buy it! No way, this time. Samy, congrats you have lost me to HTC.

What the .*u..c..#k is a grey market ?A Grey Market (also spelled gray market), or parallel market, is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer. The most common type of grey market is the sale of imported goods (brought by small import companies or individuals not authorized by the manufacturer) which would otherwise be more expensive in the country they are being imported to.
this form of parallel import occurs when the price of an item is significantly higher in one country than another. This situation commonly occurs with electronic equipment such as cameras. Entrepreneurs buy the product where it is available cheaply, often at retail but sometimes at wholesale, and import it legally to the target market. They then sell it at a price high enough to provide a profit but cheaper than the normal market price
Mobilemaster, 11 Apr 2014Why Samsung? Why to complicate things???not good
Very smart way to decrease sales... In my region ( CIS countries) Samsung devices are very expensive and people very often prefer to get them from Dubai or even Europe. Now they will buy Samsung neither from here nor there... They will get devices from other manufacturers that are not locked and will work everywhere in the world just out of box.
