Question - How to install Windows Phone 8.1 "Developer Preview"?
1) Sign up to be a Windows Phone developer at appstudio.windowsphone.com for free using the Microsoft account associated with your phone.
2) Get the Preview for Developers app from the Windows Phone Store
3) Run the app and sign in with your Microsoft account.
4) Check for updates (Settings > Phone update > Check for updates) and download/install any that are available. You’ll have an update to download and install before Windows Phone 8.1 shows up if you’re downloading the Preview for Developers program for the first time.

Personally, I have updated my Lumia 520, 920, updating 1020 right now. I am so much excited when I was using WP8.1 on my 520. It rocks and the phone is still smooth as it was before. Cortana is just amazing. Thank god it understand my ascent lol. But I am really really happy. All the patience I was keeping has led out to this beautiful version of Windows Phone 8.1 Thank you Microsoft and Nokia. You guys are the best. Enjoying it :)
AnonD-254117, 14 Apr 2014how to register as a developer using App Studio. i logged in using my microsoft account accoun... morerun 'preview for developers' app until u get 'SUCCESS'. Check for update in settings
[deleted post]Even i hv got it in India...man this update is awsome..
Just updated my phone and oh man this was the update we are waiting for....yepp we can use phone just like before...everything is working fine...
And how about nokia apps? Can I still using those apps while using preview version on my phone?
The update is solid. There are a lot of changes In the look and feel and it is awesome. Only problem is that the windows store is not opening at the moment. I get a message to try again later.
But anyway it sure is worth it!
If I download the developer version will I get the official consumer version of the update
Not really worth $19.
Yeah I can use AppStudio for free, but it allows max 2 sideloaded apps. With normal $19 developer account I can sideload up to 10 apps.
Or I can just wait for regular update much later.
WP is locked-down like a jail, it's ridiculous why they have to limit the number of apps you can sideload!
I Have not updated my Lumia 520 to Black update,Is there would be any problem if I update my phone to 8.1 ?
This is all your need to know. Anyone can update to WP8.1 right now
Is this update for lumia 1520 I want purchase new one..... plz help
What a major difference it is and its so much faster and more fluid the new notification centre makes it so much easier well done microsoft
how to register as a developer using App Studio. i logged in using my microsoft account account and got a username registered. then?
I got the update and I hate it -.- They are now forcing us to use the crap that they call "Facebook application". The address book, the pictures hub, the "Me Tile", it all now depends on that application being installed and running in the background. If you don't do that, you can forget about Facebook. For us who use it, it's a big deal (well, for me it is). Does anyone know why they did this? It was all so nicely integrated, why the hell did they do this now?
As for other stuff, I only noticed the notifications center thing and the tiles background image. I don't see Cortana anywhere (nor would I use it if I did), and all the other stuff is pretty much irrelevant to me. In fact, the Facebook app crap on the verge of pushing me to some other platform, the only thing keeping me is Nokia -.- Yes, pissed of right now -.-
