Most of the time in real life when the phone slips from our hand and falls on the edge it's the small rocks or objects that pose a concentrated force on impact. This is very different from a larger area spread impact. It's these pin pointed blows that lead to screen shattering.
Corning is still Samsung's big partner and their flexible Willow glass line is still glass (Akali free borosilicate) It's not plastic. Just like all bendable stuff so far it bends only along a single plane.
Now apple fan boys will have nothing to say, that's sad. :(

I really don't see any benefits of curved edged displays, especially on smartphones.

Its fake...actually, a phone cannot be operated by this type of display....the curve side of the display is at tho top and at the bottom..
