But my Nokia N... moreI disagree, Xperia X10 is still an ok and usable phone, the limited multitouch isnt to everyones liking but it works if you just avoid crossing coordinates, not that hard. Here people are still buying Galaxy S which is as old as X10, more RAM but thats not really an issue with Gingerbread, 384MB is not bad, actually many Android phones was launched in India and China in 2013 running Gingerbread on 256MB. Imagine that was in 2013, brand new models...
This is so unbelievable...!!! I am very much disappointed at this news flash. I think SONY is going to be my next choice of destination because I don't fancy BB10 and her other devices.
AndyWalsall GB, 25 Apr 2014Now that Nokia and Microsoft are one the basic Asha Phones should be dropped and I would like ... moreYou mean Flip phones with physical numeric keypad? Thats only for Asia and in particular Korea and China, since numeric keypad is still the fastest way to type their characters. I doubt MS would pursue such a niche market, WP isnt big enough in east Asia and probably never will be.
A qwerty slider would be ok though, high end sidesliders is what is missing in Android these days, would love to see the Xperia Pro make a comeback in a up to date version, that keyboard was so great, but i doubt i would want to see it running wp... Wouldnt mind if BlackBerry made a BB10 sideslider also, they have great keyboards but their form factor incorporates the keyboard on expense of display size/shape.

But my Nokia N8 is still relevant, I don't miss anything that I could possibly need and I'm still not looking for a new phone.
So Nokia is now officially dead on phone market ? Finland lost something important, UE lost one of the best company in phone history. USA = Software, Asia produces others projects, producing projects, but they learned a lot and catching up with the rest of, what about UE ?!
Well, it's a pity MS must kill Nokia to make place for WP. Symbian (anna/belle) and MeeGo was really good/great options.
Elop when he came Nokia still have ~ 30% market share, many people still loves their phones...but if you deliberate lie, intentional stop developing Symbian, kill MeeGo before users/market announce a verdict (many review was good, people who dont miss chance to get it was satisfy, ofc it was new OS...).
Even stock exchange show us how bad was the period of Elop rule and why he burn own platform?
Nobody else will make a decision to choose Windows Phone as the only OS at the time. Maybe as a 2nd/3rd if MS give license for free but not now, formerly in 2009-2010. Lack of the basic functions, zero functionality, strange solution like Zune...Microsoft wanna be like Apple, iOS and iTunes ? Ballmer has an obsession about Apple, MS/Ballmer alawys response too late and never listen users.
It's really sad that we lose such a great company on phone market ( bad management decisions) - who else can compete with the biggest players like Apple or Samsung ? Microsoft ? They arent phone manufacturers, anyone remember Microsoft Zune (iPod), MSN Smart Watch, Kin and many others - MS have many failures in hardware so thye decided to buy whole company - Nokia..for all customers is bad day, better if Nokia will be independent company, make phones with Android and Widnows Phone or WP and Symbian or even WP, Symbian and MeeGo etc.
iOS and WP is proprietary, no freedom of choice for user, lawful owner know better everything in 101%, "user are stupid" - we must lead them by the hand, Android it may go the wrong way, people will miss Symbian and MeeGo ;)
You do realize Nokia can not make phones for only a couple of years? Nothing prevents them from re-entering the market later on.
Why ppl are crying or saying RIP
Haven't Microsoft bought and changed its name only ???
And Android and IOS Ate another giant and brought it down...its a shame really..used to a nokia X6 amazing phone!!..if only they were smart like samsung and went over to android.. Samsung saw this coming and protected their company by making a smart move..I wonder who is next...BLACKBERRY!!! Bwahahahahahahaah!!!! I wonder what a blackberry would be like with android...(just a thought)
Just wondering, if Nokia Mobile is turning to MS mobile
why are they making all those Nokia Lumia Still ??

No...god...please, no!! No!! NOOO!!!
RedZobe, 25 Apr 2014So...is NOKIA over or is it just owned by Microsoft now? im not a business person or whatNokia goes on like before, just they stop making cellphones. Similar to when Ericsson sold their cellphone business to Sony, today Ericsson is still the worlds biggest manufacturer of telecom equipment, they just stopped making cellphones, thats all.
Now that Nokia and Microsoft are one the basic Asha Phones should be dropped and I would like to see Windows Flip and Slider Phones produced.
At the low end maybe Nokia X Flip and Slider Phones.
Nokia and Microsoft will be good for each other.
paaaal, 25 Apr 2014Android gave more bang for the buck, instead of same years old symbian options. Android made m... moreYou are wrong. The only mobile computer in 2009-2010 was the Nokia N900. Android was still a big joke at the time, even the Galaxy S was launched in 2010 running Android 2.1, ie no Flash support, which N900 had from launch in 2009.
Android fans are saying iOS and WP is so limited, but look at Android vs Maemo5, now who is limited? Especially back in 2010, even after the Froyo update, Android was far behind, it was a phone trying to be computer while N900 was a computer trying to be a phone, it was truly a pocket computer and the only device to run desktop Linux applications like OpenOffice and Iceweasel (Debians name for Firefox), really made Android feel primitive, simple and very limited.
So...is NOKIA over or is it just owned by Microsoft now?
im not a business person or what

ONE SUCH LAUNCHER alone(Go Launcher EX) got over HUNDRED MILLION downloads.
To put that into perspective - more than double the number of existing windows phones!

Android made mobile a mini computer, and yes custom launchers is easy way to give a fresh look to phone, well the point is Android was new and fresh in era of 2009/10. Be it 50$ nokia or 300$ nokia all were same in software. How bulky and heavy were phones , i used nokia 5800 music express, now when i see it i feel that way too outdated. But when i see my xperia x10 it still feel good.

How many users actually customize their phones so much? Almost none. I had many Android phones but never understood why i would want to customize everything, and i dont know anyone who did more than change wallpaper and move a few icons around, which is possible also in iOS.
Should everyone use Android because a few geeks are installing custom launchers?
I hope nokia name remains or at least Nokia by Microsoft something. Nokia device and windows os perfectly match for me. Looks professional. Maybe il buy the nokia 930 as a remembrance.
