Bad luck for Sony. The 6-month new flagship timeframe is very pointless.
It is very bad for the US if Sony could release the z2 1 month before the IFA or the announcement of the Xperia Z3.
It's not the end of the world, because the U.S. is not the whole world. If they sell well a fraction in China, it'll be like they sold a good chunk on the rest of the world. Let's see how they're playing this thing out.
FINALLY thank you it had to be the best idea to sell it noncarrier its a whole lot better. If u wanna pay monthly then just sign up for a Sony card and finance it 12 months no interest I did that with the ZL and love it. No bloatware, let everybody have their crap Samsung and same iPhone while I stand different with better.
too bad americans. good thing in our country the carriers dont give shit about phone manufacturers, and vice versa. you can get any phone you want, and use it with any carrier you want. and IMHO, if you really want a particular phone, price shouldnt be a consideration.
Apart from the delay in actually arriving on US soil, I view the decision to not offer it through traditional (limited) carrier channels as a good one. Carriers simply botch things up here in the States with slow updates and bloat, so I'm proud of Sony for not bending to their old-school mentality.
Keep the phone $649 or lower, keep the noise canceling earphones and dock in the box, and I'm sold.
Extremely wrong decision by SOny not to introduce Z2 in US with carriers support. Alot of ppl were actually waiting for this device but by this new news they will definitely be disappointed like iam. Waterproof smartphones are ONLY useful in countries which have Unpredictable weather like US,UK western countries and NOT having such phones in a GIANT country like US is a very Stupid tactics by sony team!
AnonD-93439, 26 Apr 2014I don't see how all 'muricans are like "fu yeah, land of freedom"... But then they'r... moreAre you serious?
Equating Americans way of life to not being able to buy a Xperia Z series is a wee bit of a stretch...don't ya' think?
Aaah crap :\
Regardless of your preference of with our without contract - making a flagship less available CAN'T be good for anyone. Not for Sony - the consumer - competition & innovation in general.
Oh dear oh dear :'S
I have a really bad feeling about this decision...
If your phones can't get to the carriers. You're pretty much done here in the US.
We are still waiting for it to become available for purchase. But wait in 4 months they will release xperia z3 with 3,5 gb of ram, a new snapdragon 801,5 processor with 2,6 ghz. No innovation whatsoever, same smarthphone over and over again with another name. Right now its more of a imaginary smarthphone since you cant buy it anywhere....
good job Sony the carrier should bow down to OEMs. not the other way round
i dont see how this is bad, i mean you have the freedom to choose the provider and switch to whoever has a better price ...in overall you get beack on your money eventually. And you arent forced into a minimum plan of like 69.95/month to get a rebate on the phone. I for one will be willing to pay 699.99 for a phone that lets me choose my provider (im from canada, prices or laws might or are different than the us)
I have a Sony Z1 awesome phone with a great camera, only downfall hard time putting that in your pocket my friends laugh and say hey hows the tablet working for you.I dont even use the lap top any more
got it because I ran over my experia arc accidently with the wife's car the .I contacted Sony asked them when their Z 2 will be out why get a Z1 when I get a Z2 unfortunately the reply was too late
