bad news for me i brought Nexus 5 last year, whats going to happen with nexus 5 smartphones...
Finally some good news in the world of smartphones. Since the price only increases and no major upgrades to the hardware level. I hope it's released worldwide and not only in some markets. Live Google!
Well they have to do something, it would get confusing with a nexus 6 & 7, and then what comes after 6?
Gavin_Is_A_Man, 30 Apr 2014What's wrong with a Galaxy S6 Google Play Edition insetad of an expensive new model range that... moreDepends on which part of the world you're in.The Nexus4 sold out in North America before the release of the latest Nexus. And most networks offered it at reasonable costs, even free on some plans before the Nexus5 was released. It's still available for free on some networks right now.If you don't want to be tied to any plan,it's cheaper to buy too,399 for the 32gb on the playstore. And as par what the Nexus does that the galaxy cannot do,well I don't know about the S5,but I can tell you that the Nexus range don't lag like the galaxies.
George, 30 Apr 2014Really ? Please tell me what device you have, how you use it, and how many times did it crap d... moreI use a Nexus 5 HammerHead stock rooted 4.4.2.+ Franco Kernel..I get great battery+performance from my N5..Ive already tried/flashed most of the ROMS on XDA including Slim,Paranoid,Omni,Vanir yadda yadda yadda and they all have issues..My previous phone was the same as yours a Galaxy Nexus Maguro wich got stuck on 4.3 with no more support from Google and is the reason why i upgraded to the N5..Official is where its at for me..99% of the Roms on XDA are created from cherry picking wannabe devs that cant even write code so they Kang real code they cant create themselves..Cheers
Ehm... so this will kill the competition between manufacturers?
Sounds somewhat good, but looking the nexus line it has allways been a "midrange" device in specs. Compared to others. The LG's desing werent that grate, well everybody has their own taste.
I prefer removable battery, had too many situations that the phone doesnt react.
Camera on nexus could be a lot better
And external sdcard is a must, easy onboard backup if nothing else.
I use sd card first on everything, when u drop the phone and completely dies all your files are gone and resent issue my friend had to go and get service and they factory reseted hes phone and there went all hes music and pictures of hes son etc. But he was lucky to get more than a half of those files from the last backup he made.
HammerHead, 30 Apr 2014Of course..I prefer a real update not a chopped up buggy port..CheersReally ? Please tell me what device you have, how you use it, and how many times did it crap down ? I have a GNEX with a SlimRom (4.4.2) on it, and currently I have an uptime of 2200 hours. I phonetalk about ~1 hour a day, 2-3 hours netbrowsing, email, gaming, here there listen to some music, and IM alot. It doesn't freeze for a second and don't have any task manager apps installed that "free up memory".
Who cares what you're going to call your products? Top-tier hardware + high specs + good price = people buy your stuff.
HammerHead, 30 Apr 2014Of course..I prefer a real update not a chopped up buggy port..CheersYou do realize that some AOSP based OSs from XDA are far better than the oficial updates/ roms ? Those devs actually care about good functionality, while the big companies mostly put out updates just to shut users up. Ever tried one ?
I really love me Nexus 4. Well, with the usual 3 shortcomings, lousy battery life, subpar camera, and missing storage.
While everybody seems to agree on the first 2 items, I hear a lot of nonsense about the missing storage.
It is true that for installing applications and associated data that needs to be dealt with in a random access pattern, eMMC is kind of the way to go. But please forgive me, my phone is also the location where I keep my music library, and where I keep pictures, and sometimes simply data that I exchange between computers, replacing a USB drive. And that is a problem if you got only 16GB of eMMC. It's especially ridiculous if you consider that you can buy a 32GB SDHC for $18 (and I would oracle that in 2 years a 128GB SDXC will sell for that price).
Lastly I'd love to add some secondary concerns. Could the next "Nexus" or "Android Silver" please be water and dust prove ? Some of us are actually using those devices outdoors and periodically get rained out ... My last point is about size ... Could we get something in the 4.3 inch screen size as well ? While it's cool to show off your 6+ inch device to bolster your ego, my jeans pocket would be way more happy with 4.3 inches (and probably my bike jersey as well).
Anonymous, 30 Apr 2014We DONT CARE. google's time is over! What? Google is about the only mobile company that grows nowadays.
AnonD-45523, 30 Apr 2014ever heard of XDA forums????Of course..I prefer a real update not a chopped up buggy port..Cheers
Stondec100, 30 Apr 2014Google has always fallen short with Nexus devices.
1. Horrendous battery life
2. Subpar cam... moresadly everyone doesn't see this.
Samsung and LG phones are much better.
you can just remove those stock skins and switch to Cyanogenmod
