Anonymous, 02 May 2014The 4.7 inch screen will be cited as being "tiny" by Apple haters. Im not apple hater maybe but definitively not a supporter and i think 4.7 is too big. Anyway, i doubt they will increase the pixel density and then im not interested anyway, my BB has noticeable higher PPI (355) than iPhone (326) but its still not nearly enough.
edit: Some will claim that 355 vs 326 is less than 9% difference but its actually almost 20% since PPI is a 1-dimensional property of a 2-dimensional object. The correct way to calculate the difference is by squaring the ppi values.

I have tried too many lower and midrange phones and always reach the same conclusion: They are just not good enough, performance is poor, except BlackBerry 10 devices, runs like an Android flagship on just dual core A9 processor, impressive, and more impressive that the Z3 cost less than $200. But in general, with android, buying cheap phone just isnt a good option.
lol thats why i endap replacing my ipad air glass digitizer made from sapphire its so friggin fragile . still scratch resistant but very fragile
6 month salary = Iphone 6 (RIP)

Anonymous, 02 May 2014If it gets mass adapted the price will probably be significantly lower.i'm not sure a sapphire-coated phone screen will be a standard. It is only suitable for super premium phones like Vertu or high end timepiece.

Here in Indonesia, an iphone 5s 64gb costs around$1000. An insanely high price for average Indonesian.
I never heard an iphone user complained about getting scratches on the screen. I got lg since 2011 but still no scratch on the screen. For me no need to shift to sapphire glass just for extra scratch resistant only, unless for breaking glass resistant. Shifting to sapphire glass make a reason to increase the price.

It threw the "unaffordable" reason out of the window. The rest of the main stream flagship is no cheaper then iPhone nowadays as well.

But in US you pay a lot for Carriers. Like unlimited data + text + calls here in Latvia (Europe) costs about 20$ per month. But for phones you either pay monthly or unlocked. iPhone's here cost 900$ unlocked or about 40$ a month for 2 years. Whilst something like Nexus 5 cost 300€ unlocked & 20$ a month for 2 years.

Here is the United States carriers subsidize the mobiles, so an iPhone on a contract is $199.00...The same as a high end Android such as the M8 or the Gs5.
Even if you were to buy the iPhone unlocked, it is roughly $650.00...again the same as a high end Android.
It is most likely the country you live in that decides to set the price sky high. It isn't up to Apple to regulate your government's import tarrifs to make sure everybody can afford an iPhone.
It is a daring move.
Though more scratch resistant it is also a more brittle material, so at a 5" size I guess the risk of breaking will be much higher than traditional gorilla glass.
(It is similar to the pros and cons of glass versus plastic)
But we will see when test are done for real, if they have come up with some clever solution to prevent that or not....
APPLE- iphones have BRAND appeal .. no reason NOT to have memory card slot and removable battery 2014. but japan china india have apple high sales as a brand . APPLE must "pull their socks up " and not let "grass under their feet" ..but then ELITISM always has SNOB appeal .
iphones very good for middle aged middle upper "classes"-good business phone for "business" people .HIGH costs are self defeating .. but then APPLE was never for the maases - unaffordable by most MASSES. SHAME .
