How can Samsung I9105 Galaxy S II Plus getting kitkat update with touchwiz and S3 can't?
Funny how my Nexus 7 2012 with 1GB of RAM and slower CPU runs KitKat just fine and dandy - just another prematurely ditched device from Sammy. Thank god for the devs at XDA......
Anonymous, 09 May 2014And 4.4 and touchwiz have both trimmed down.
So it's bs. But not because of touchwiz itself ... moreThere is nothing "trollish" in assuming that it's TouchWiz which takes up the RAM. After all, stock Android 4.4 runs well on 512 MB, so if Samsung's version of KitKat will not run acceptably on 1 GB, the culprit must be TouchWiz by logic. No trolling involved, only logic.
Of course Samsung could be lying as well, as you suggest, but surely assuming that they are NOT lying is not trolling, eh?
samsung , just shame on u .. i regret y i bought samsung .. previously i read an article regarding android kitkat , there was mentioned that it is compatible for running on 512 Mb ram . galaxy s3 I9300 has got 1 GB.. so y not the update on this device ? i only bought samsung as it was efficient in update matters . but now thats an cheapest move . s3 was their solid flag ship phone . ignoring that phone and alot of owners of that phone will surely cause samsung a shock . now i m aiming to get iphone 6 . to hell wid u samsung
How can anyone be surprised? Samsung's greed is rampant. Why support an older device when you can release 6 others just like it. They're too busy making Swarovski studded S5's.
Buying any Samsung device is the same as giving yourself the middle finger in the mirror. When you buy junk, you get junk for support.
believe me they don't even give it a try they just put the name on the list to say we don't leave the consumer behind , s3 is powerful device and kitkat is 512 ram needed so they just leave us behind before 18 moths support ( kitkat announced last year ) they would do the same for 2 ram model but there are a pressure on them from the carrier company , that's it Samsung last device ever , welcome nexus 6
Stock rom will always be the most stable, simple as that.
KitKat on the SIII doesn't bring anything new to the table anyway. Knox 2. which from a developers standpoint is useless, but is great for personal and business devices to keep them safe and secure. I'm gonna say it's all that Touchwiz bloatware.
Thats one of the reasons why I hate Android. Good I sold my s3.. now I own Z30.. and I am loving it.
If 1.4 GHz quad core processor with 1GB Ram can handle Android 4.3 with heavy touchwiz quite well then I don't understand why KK can't run on it due to Ram issue. Its purely a lame excuse from samsung for not to upgrade GS3 further as it might effect its newer flagship GS5 sales.people Don't buy GS5 because after 2 years again they will say upgrade is not feasible due to ram shortage.Samsung is ditching their best selling phone & they will regret. Is there any way to write petition to them to provide us the actual reason for not upgrading GS3?
Anonymous, 09 May 2014Actually this is just a Samsung problem.
However they are still offering a better level of up... moreI like more Optimus UI since feels less bloated than TouchWiz, in fact, feels more speedy and stable also consume less RAM and less CPU cycles.
And agree Kit Kat has a better battery performance and sincerely Im waiting this update for my E980h but I dont know if will wait or get the G2 or PRO 2 XD
I do not understand Scamsung.
They have in-house SoC (Exynos) and therefore have no reason to not update their handsets.
Apple also has in-house SoC and updates their devices to newest iOS version albeit they are stripped of some functionality (and nobody is complaining about that).
If Scamsung tries to copy everything from Apple (snotty commercials, steep prices at launch,...), why can't they copy updating policies as well?!
It's not like they're using Mediatek SoC that's still at Android v4.2.2!
HUITZILOPOCHTLI RVNG, 09 May 2014The problem here is TouchWiz, people can bash WP but they probe WP can be used on 256 MB Devic... moreActually this is just a Samsung problem.
However they are still offering a better level of update....
And really??? You don't use Samsung because you don't like touchwiz..But use LG G Pro which looks strikingly like a Galaxy and uses Optimus UI that is a touchwiz copy and paste.
atleast they can fix all the bugs and battery drain problem on 4.3, if they cant get Kitkat, samsung shd fix all the bugs, then in future i wil sure buy samsung phone
The problem here is TouchWiz, people can bash WP but they probe WP can be used on 256 MB Devices quite smooth.
So this is Samsung fault thats why my actual device is an LG G Pro and not an Note 2 and waiting to get G3 or maybe the G Pro 2 but NOT Samsung anymore. That TouchWiz is evil.
