Anonymous, 14 May 2014What is with the recent high price for 5+ inch android phones? Is it because :
a) they cost ... moreIt's about marketing/communication strategy. Like it or not, the price communicates about the product.
A much lower price than the rival (iPhone) will make it be perceived as inferior.
Pricing also allows for the selection of it's costumers. By making the price steeper you are making the device more exclusive, hence more attractive to many in the higher end (which incidentally is also the target client of a flagship).
Dennis, 14 May 2014Really? You think releasing a flagship 3 months after releasing another flagship is a lot o... moreSony already pulled that stunt before (the replacement of Xperia T 3mo after launch by the Xperia Z does come to mind)... Did it affect them? Nope.
MaxSmarties, 13 May 2014It surely will be "faux metal" ......And still come in faux wooden boxes which just hollow cardboard painted in wooden motives
MaxSmarties, 13 May 2014S5 wasn't 880$ at launch. It was 649$ ......It was $880 in Korea genius! Which is where the new one launches first, just like S4 LTE+ did.
Taher, 14 May 2014I this is true then SAMSUNG will gain a lot of credit.Really?
You think releasing a flagship 3 months after releasing another flagship is a lot of credit worthy? WOW. You are easy to please.. I take it you didn't buy the S5.
What is with the recent high price for 5+ inch android phones? Is it because :
a) they cost this much too produce?
b) they competing and cashing in on apples exorbitant high prices?
c) they desperate for cash and have posted losses in stock X change?
Sony Xperia FOREVER, 14 May 2014samsung is a stupid company that fool and gimmick their crazy fans with plastic phones then re... moreSony is a stupid company that releases 20.7MP camera but worse than 8MP camera. And their battery life is bad as huawei. And their glass is shock resistant due to their gimmick bullet proof screen protector.
samsung is a stupid company that fool and gimmick their crazy fans with plastic phones then release same model with brushed aluminum and exaggerated price of craziness.
Not You , 13 May 2014Maybe you don't know how to use android, I mean, you don't know how to use android. Maybe I don't.
Stupid question, what happens to all those who bought the S5? Actually what happens to the S5 itself as it is being replaced with a higher spec device just 2 months after its release???
Virtruvian, 13 May 2014Sorry guys, but this is how Samsung does business these days. The consumer is an afterthought.... moreThe only real update is the QHD screen, which was going to be on the original S5 but production problems of the new screen got in the way. That's why the S5's body was originally designed for the 5.2" QHD screen, not the 5.1" FHD.
i feel excited and fed up, because my S5 is awesome. why do they always have the best version in Korea. well annoying. Samsung dont care about the UK.
Daz 321, 13 May 2014hahahahaa i told you so! Samsung are very good at marketing, sell you phones which at the b... moreLast for decades? the iPhone has only been around for 8 years. I guess that qualifies as multiple decades in your universe.
Anonymous, 13 May 2014If anything it is probably just a metal version to satisfy the bashers. It surely will be "faux metal" ......
That price tag will be lower in the U.S. The current S5 retails for about US$150 more in Korea than in the U.S. So, if the phone will be US$880 in Korea, it'll most likely be ~$700 in the U.S.
On what planet an 880$ phone will cost 640€ in Europe ?
No manufacturer apply this kind of change rate.
A 600$ Samsung s5 in Europe costs about 650-700€.
A 650$ iPhone 5s in Europe costs about 700€.
A 699$ HTC one in Europe costs about 700€.
An 880$ phone will costs about 850€ in Europe .... that is ridiculous for an overclocked s5 with a better display (and a waste of pixels I'd say, because I can't see a reason for QHD resolution on a 5" display)
