Does it really matter if they make updates or not. The old OS just works and if you need better, buy a new phone.
Y'all guys be like Samsung this, Samsung that. Apple this, apple that. Well, I'm using a Samsung device. Matter fact two. Starting with the S2, it didn't see any updates after the 4.2. But I can tell you I'm running Kitkat on it right now. Against all odds, you don't wanna know how smooth it runs here. So why bother complain about "no official update" when some good developers are trying their level best to bring, not only the experience of the latest firmware, but also utilizing your mobile capacity to the maximum. Like right now XDA has released the update to Samsung Galaxy S3. It's not stable, but it will get there (after all it is based on Galaxy Note 2). Otherwise you can always put a custom ROM based on Galaxy S5. It's available for download too.
AnonD-78985, 15 May 2014Am lucky I have the snapdragon version of the S3 with 2GB of ram. I will be getting the update... moreExactly. Well, I have the i9300 which is not going to get the update, but I ain't stressed at all. Actually I saw a post on Google about a custom ROM for i9300 based on Galaxy S5. Or more still, XDA developers have released the unofficial 4.4 Kitkat update for I9300. It's available for download now

WP7.x cannot be updated because of completely different architecture, not because manufacturer wants to suck more money from users
AnonD-263405, 15 May 2014You don't get the point, right?

Samsung says it can't be updated and the sky falls all the way from heaven.
Now who's not getting the point?
Anonym, 13 May 2014Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Lumia 900 owners must be thrilled... or not, since their phone launc... moreYou don't get the point, right?
L900 CANNOT be updated, and M$ pointed that from the very beginning. It was well known even before L900 was available for sale in some countries. So... You bought it, don't blame anyone else.
However S3 CAN be updated but it WONT be updated,
WP 8.0 phones all can be updated, and all WILL be updated
simple as that
I'm not so sure but I can't see any difference(aside from the white icons) with KitKat at all. JB is still good I would say. Though I'm using N3 with KitKat..
Am lucky I have the snapdragon version of the S3 with 2GB of ram. I will be getting the update next month. But for real I don't give a damn about kit Kat. I can already do what ever I want with my S3.
Just put a custom rom on and be done with it. This is the beauty that is android you have a million options out there. I've been running gummyrom kitkat on my i9300 s3 for months now with no more issues or battery problems than the stock rom. Samsung did release updates for this phone but they can't support them forever. In phone terms 2 years is a long time now and I for one would prefer samsung develop new software and hardware for phones than waste time on a 2 year old device.
AnonD-71586, 14 May 2014i really don't get all this hipe with latest software. my phone suits my needs, decent camera,... moreIn your case you have a 3 year old device, which in tech terms, is ancient, so someone such as yourself won't see the full advantages of Kit Kat.
Like you said, your device does what you need. But you have become used to it. If you were to use a newer 2014 device with upgraded hardware, GPU & Kit Kat integrated, the difference would be immediately obvious. You mobile would seem very laggy & the UI would fall short.
Out of curiosity, what made you buy a 3 year old mobile?
i really don't get all this hipe with latest software. my phone suits my needs, decent camera, can do anything i want with it. use the internet i had it for over 2 years and still don't want to change it because is works smoothly. i got this one (s2) because i needed to. had a x10 mini pro which was awfull but now with the money for another phone i bought a ps4 which i think it's a better investment since my phone still fulfills my needs. give me a single valid reason for which you need the latest updated, a real reason, not just because.
AnonD-205659, 14 May 2014This just shows the reason why Apple's premium price tag is worth it all.
Users' Galaxy S5s w... morei have a galaxy s2, please tell me how is your updated iphone 4 better than mine? i don't have glitches, my phone works smothly , it has a better camera, better cpu, more memory, more ram, better screen, sd slot. while i hear iphone 4 users are lately having problems with their latest software. now please tell me again how is your iphone any better? and btw at this moment a galaxy s2 plus is about 200 euros off contract while that ancient piece of iphone 4 is about450 euros i could almost get a note 3 with that money and they want 450 euros for a 8gb phone, with one core cpu, 5 mp camera and 512 ram, or is it 256?
you sir clearly are another brainwashed ios user, i'm not saying samsung is the best, cause it isn't, but i'm satisfied for what i got for the money i payed also, when i will change my phone i would rather consider a windows phone than those thiefy apple bastards.
