I get that ppl are angry at Samsung for not updating their older top tier devices. I don't know Samsung's official reason/statement as to why they aren't updating the SGS3 for example. I can't see a hardware issue for KitKat but their TouchWiz launcher may not be able to run satisfactory/adequate. Instead Samsung could and should help developers like CM, XDA and others to port vanilla KitKat older top tier devices. Help with "squashing" bugs and compatibility issues.
I know this won't happen though. :(
cm11 won't be very stable until it reaches at least rc1... my cm11 s3 mini has still many problems
Angry Mobile Nerd, 14 May 2014Every angle, really? So when you buy a phone the OS cannot last the life of the device? (BS)... moreWell by your logic, there is no reason for Android to evolve any further then if a company feels no obligation to offer continued support for its product. Just let it stagnate, right?
You're a "good enough for me" type of consumer which explains your affinity to Samsung devices. They love to shaft the end user and pull the rug out from its users expecting continued support for flagship devices.
You should take a long, hard look in the mirror and facepalm yourself, as you've accepted mediocrity. Well done.

I've used KitKat on my i9300 since KitKat was ported to this device. CyanogenMod 11.

Sorry your post is a lot of BS with the exception that yes, you couldn't even BUY the official Kit-Kat update if you wanted to. That's one angle, buddy. Everything else you said is BS. oh and please don't reply asking what BS means, I've done enough facepalms this week.
"Every angle" oh god, hahaha you make it sound like a PC and a smartphone have nothing in common. I award you 1 point because you made me laugh.
Angry Mobile Nerd, 14 May 2014*facepalm*
The meaning is you have these users that are so upset they can't run the latest ... moreWow. Talk about missing the point entirely. When you purchase a PC it already comes loaded with the latest version of SW. Software that can last the life of the PC.
People do not switch computers every year,or even every 3-5 yrs. A PC can still be stable running the same SW that is 5 yrs old. I can't BUY the newest version of Android on a disk to place on a my 3 yr old mobile device. Android is specifically tailored for each handset, where Windows will run system wide.
Your comparison is flawed from every angle.
Moto G with 1 gb ram and 4.4.2 software with support superb work
Samsung has no any idea how to work
only focus new galaxy launching
finally always by Samsung
go with Apple products and moto and nexus.
Would you guys rather your s3 have slow performance after an update, like certain Apple devices? But still, maybe the 'memory' reason was a bit BS.
- Some sensors (Accelerometer, Magnetic field, Orientation, Gravity)
- Rotation due to above sensors"!
CM11 is far better but stock 4.1.2 is still the best rom for S3!
I have been using Cyanogenmod (CM11) on my S3 since last year and Im very happy with it. Its very easy to install and battery life is better then it was with Stock OS. Its currently running 4.4.2 KitKat and its very Stable. Just go to http://www.cyanogenmod.org/ go and check it out and you're welcome :)
Oncom, 14 May 2014I fully agree with you. Now I'm switching to LG and Nokia. The most I hate is S4 and S5 droppe... moreEaxctly im also in love with my radio and may switch to another brand just because S4 or s5 hasn't got it. Its a major requirement if they are markteing the phone in the asian continent.
yeah, 14 May 2014right, but KitKat was supposed to be lighter and more compatible for low end smartphones... th... moreBecause of features on touchwiz that increase the ram usage, thus made device maybe a bit slower if samsung update the s3..that why I just suggesting samsung to drop out half of it features and give users a choices whether to update to lastest and loss the features or just stay with current version..
Anonymous, 14 May 2014How is that relevant?*facepalm*
The meaning is you have these users that are so upset they can't run the latest OS on their mobile phone but at the same time are perfectly happy running a 10+ year old OS on their PC.
Mo.ron. Let's see if you can figure that one out.
Flash that SlimKat 4.4.2 build 5.0 and you are good to go.
The xda will let the whole world know about Samsung unscrupulous plan.
Keep on hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
One thing that most people usually ignore is the fact that there are plenty of cm, aokp and aosp kitkat ROMs that are running almost flawlessly on the s3. The author of this article should've taken note of that and mentioned that it's a Samsung based kitkat ROM that is being ported. The preference for that sort of thing is the developer community is thinning out anyway. Samsung can go suck it
