The major problem with Windows 8.1 OS is lacking of specific apps or games which are only available in iOS or Android.

The answer is very simple, because both the platform of iOS and Android is similar.

However, developers need to start from ground zero if they want to develop apps for Windows 8.1 OS.

Another wrong strategy from Microsoft is to fund makers to build Windows phones.

Instead Microsoft should fund small apps developers to create apps for Windows 8.1 OS.

Nokia should wait like others did. Slowly work on a MeeGo like Samsung with Tizen and make phones with Android. Most popular OS, easy to, many user in Asia, Europe and USA - not like WP. Period 2010-2013 was very bad for Windows Phone, it was bad idea to choose it as the only OS, mayne 2nd but but not the main. After 8.1 will be little better, however management and Elop led phone division to ruined.

Microsoft is different. The battle between the 3 major platform will startup with wp8.1 release. Wp in 5 years will become no.1. Wp proved until now stability, reliability, ergonomicity and efficient uses of resources.

Windows Phone is the way to go. Android is bugfest due to hardware fragmentation.

The problem with Microsoft, they are too arrogant! Never listen to end users' criticism.

I don't think Windows 8.1 will succeed in the future.

The no. Apps are still very much lacking behind iOS and Android.

i am happy not to see SONY amoung those M$ fooled them or bought them

i think Samsung enter to have a card in their hand against Google in case Samsung Tizen fail to launch or fail in launching nothing more

HTC on the other hand joined to make M$ stop this brutal patent war for nothing to it

so neither Samsung nor HTC will create a real competitive phones with this s**tty OS

Microsoft, you really need to fix this no so smart feature.

This "no so smart feature" in Windows 8.1 phone whereby the search in the IE browser is always "static" even you scroll the page down. The search box measured like 10 mm tall. It wastes unnecessary space in the display.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about, try the Android's Chrome Browser.

MaxSmarties, 16 May 2014Because it is better than Android in many ways (and also better than iOS in some ways)....Hardly better in any respect, unless you consider things like a phone with limited options for it's UI and media file attachments and a crippled browser better.
