Well, that's pretty much why ios and wp are afraid of doing what android does right now. But, then again. If Microsoft want more peoples to use wp8 phone and win RT(since MS making RT and WP apps to be the same) then this is the only way. You guys got to understand that all 3 OS have they app store apps restricted by regions. the one thing that android have it over other 2 is the freedom to install any apk one's can find online. If MS do the same, I guarantee you that there's gonna be tons of apps and games coming from the Chinese.

A 4G smartphone price at 60 USD now( 149.xx when it first release). Since the majority of cellphone users just use their phone to surf the web, call, text, and do some online social communication. The lumia 520/521 are the best budget smartphone. Google saw this coming, so they sold Motorola to Lenovo( now, everything is so clear).

It's good, for competition sake, to have more OEM's building Windows Phones. Hope they build waterproof WP's, ruggerized WP's, and a whole diversity of them.
As for apps, most of them are available also for WP: FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
In the end, the choice of an OS is dependent on the user's will or afinity towards a certain device; as all of them pretty much do the same.
I personally use Windows Phone 8.1 (on My L820) and I am happy using it. My "Android fan friends" just run out of arguments when they try to defend their OS of choice.
Anonymous, 16 May 2014Having a developer account for all WP8 / Android / iOS.. cost so cheap. Do you think develo... moreWell, do you think the majority of smartphone users knows/cares and understand these. No, they don't. Take android for example, the majority of android smartphone users don't really know a thing of their phone. They only know how to open and close the apps that they've been taught how to use it. (Some of them don't even know why they need a Google account for their phone, others can't understand "setting" ! ) so, at the end, in the business point of views, like how android does right now( free to install any apk) that's money right there for a lot of games( especially like Chinese android games, they're all over the web and they're all come with the in-game purchase crap). So, since those games doesn't need to be in playstore, they can publish as many games as can and want to the internet.

Do you think developers have to stoop so low to avoid having to pay those fees? The actual reason is very simple: they can bypass the strict checking enforced by the OS.
In the end the consumers is the one "PAYING" the malware, unsafe codes, thief of privacy .. etc etc.. and blowup phones in their pockets.

The android gaming industry are huge in China, it's so big that they simply take out Google playstore from their phones. one can easily find android games online, because those games and apps doesn't needs to be in the playstore( unlike ios and wp).

For high end smartphone for me I can't prefer Windows for obvious security reasons.
The Linux kernel is much more preferred because of its stability, reliability and security.
For a big picture view, I think OEM going Windows would have a big market share on lower end phones but won't keep up with Google on the smartphones.
Good to see micromax and xolo !!!

So it is more like they protect the devices from being loaded with viruses. If what you said will be allowd, windows phone will collaps under virus attaks and that is just cause some as... have nothing better to do. And lef,s not forget wp8 is based on windows desktop kernel. Mining this fac, i ki,d of get scared using windows pho,e :)). Don,t get me wrong. Android sill sell even my toilet pics. So that is a NO WAY MAN for me....
I hope they sell for competition sake.
Windows Phone is too straight forward, people seem to like phones with playful and young user interface.
Good luck.
Hey Nokia, get ready for competition now. I wish u get back to the top again, followed by Motorola and Sony.
Hey Microsoft, no need to pay a single dollor to Samsung now, u have got all oems to compete with Google. Hope u cross double digit soon.
Android won't die, but low-end android phones will once these 17 OEMs start to push out WP phones. The unique flexibility( install apk) will keep android alive( for hi-end smartphones only). Since ios and wp are afraid of stepping into this filed( allow users to install apps outside of app store). If only MS willing to (unlock) this feature, which is allow users to install any apps that they can find online on windows 8 rt( start manu). Especially games, android is ruling because of this.
