It means that it is protected from water no matter how long. Z, Z1, Z1C, ZU, and Z2 are all water proof for a certain amount of time and depth, which means it's water resistant.

You are wrong. The LCD is much better than Amoled. The LCD display is the only reason why I'm waiting for S5 Active.
I hate that almost all flagship Samsung phones have the crap Amoled display.
Why is there an active if the S5 is the water resistant one now anyway? And while retaining a better Amoled.
Is it an LCD with higher IP rating?
Just because people say go do your homework: Xperia Z series are water proof... up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes as per sony, go dive with it and see if it survives after an hour, in my opinion, water proof means take it down to 50 meters underwater for a few hours and it works perfectly.
REDbWs, 17 May 2014WRONG. They're all water resistant.Haha someone doesn't know their stuff. If you look at their certification they have received then you will see that the Z1, Z1 compact and Z2 all have the waterproof certificate whereas the others only have water resistent so pipe down and learn facts before shouting your mouth off!
S4 active had those 2 carbon fibre plates at the back of the device, please S5 active please dont forget to put those 2 carbon fibre plates on the S5 active also. Please make those plates more thicker, harder and wider carbon fibre plates. And please make it more super toughest phone make it IP68 or if greater exists than make it IP70 for more greater water proofing please
REDbWs, 17 May 2014WRONG. They're all water resistant.Yes, all are water-resistant with a limited pressure level of only 5ft, or else water starts coming inbetween the seals and filament of the speakers and microphones. It was designed only for rain and accidental drops over shallow water, not for diving especially for salt water.
It's good that we don't worry about water riuning our smartphones. I'd like a water resistant Galaxy Note 4.
Those Xperias aren't waterproof neither. They are just water resistant for some more time at a deeper depth, but the Galaxy is dustproof.

Samsung wouldn't honor the warranty because I had bought it new on Ebay. They told me to call my carrier, who I hadn't purchased it through. A holes....
For those who don't know these things, the S5 is nt waterproof, it is water resistant and there is a huge difference. The only waterproof smartphones are the Z2,Z1 and Z1 compact.
