I don't get it, what demand? The reason of big.Little layout is to minimize the power usage, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 801 and even 800 are already so good.
The only thing might be that they feel they have hit the ceiling in terms of squeezing more power efficiency out of the current fabrication techniques and architecture. So might be filling like they can't achieve further performance gains while improving power efficiency.
