In that real world with current web content everything above Snapdragon 600 is overkill I thinkLG focus on battery life over performance next step in mobile revolution is 14nm 64 bit a about one year in the future. The major drawback is if you can't insert a128gb card
Snapdragon 801 can't manage well a QHD display...S5 prime with adreno 420 and QHD display scores 17fps in gfxbench while a Full Hd display wth adreno 330 which is 40-50% slower than 420 scores 26fps so probably g3 will score under 10 fps in benchmarks that meens the future games will lagg on the phone...
that qualcom put into production and sold snapdragon 805, g3 would certainly have s805 processor, but this is not. because there snapragon 801, which is still a very powerful processor, as someone wrote, it all depends on the optimization phone
Everything on paper is impressive. Maybe with the exception of sd801 powering a QHD screen. But for some reason this just don't get me excited.
For all those who are complaining about lack of SD 805, 801 supports displays upto 2560x2048 just fine. This is on Qualcomm's own spec sheets. When they say 'support' it's not just for OS rendering and menu screens, they are factoring in 3D acceleration/rasterization as well.
So time to reign in on the moar cores moar SoC moar this that nerd rage.
it all depends on the optimization of software and hardware, the LG is probably a lot of work on optimizing the device or on the phone G3. people S801 is still a strong processor, you become much more demanding
It would need a larger connector, http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/A/252874/original/USB-3.0-Micro-B.jpg.
I can't see any point at all in upgrading from my G2... same resolution camera, possibly no card slot, marginal screen update. That's a real shame as I was looking forward to the G3. :(
Anonymous, 21 May 2014Looks like it'll be outdated in about a week... I don't see anything special except the 2K sc... moreIt is understandable that you will have a snapdragon processor 801, S805 is not ready for phones, it is primarily designed for tablet devices rather than smartphones. Galaxy s5 prime will have KHD display and 3 GB Ram and a much higher price, and the hardware will be the same
It's going to suffer for having that 801 chip running the QHD display. The Adreno 330 in the 801 is great for a 1080p display, but I think QHD is going to be a bit much for it so don't go expecting buttery smooth graphics with the G3. LG should have waited for the 805 as it's Adreno 420 gpu was specifically designed to run QHD screens.
This phone is coming out almost 3 months after S5, M8 & Z2. Yet with sd801. Was expecting LG wud change game by coming up with sd805! Big disappointment in processing hardware.....
Why no USB 3.0; they do realise you can put a 2.0 in a 3.0.
Now PLEASE make a G3 mini with the same PPI and FullHD, that would be a 4.2" display, and with the same 3mm side bezels it would be about 60mm wide, and thus a one hand operable device.
But keep the other specs, allowing it be a bit thicker to have room for the battery.
Please LG Pretty Please.....
It's too big.. the G2 was just about a comfortable size, but this is getting too darned large now.
