Exynos is the only decent cpu out their with real potential, Qualcomm is cheap and laggy, i have S4 Qualcomm it lags when all features are on, unlike my brother S4 Exynos it runs much smoother even with all features.
I hoped to be S5 Nvidia version but now it won't be anymore.
"Huang did suggest that NVIDIA would be interested if someone was making the "Porsche of tablets or phones"
huh, so roughly nVidia is trying to say that they are best in the processor tech
alexv, 23 May 2014What did nvidia expect? The competition Making room for it? Or people buying nvidia and intel ... moreNot really a case of not being any better than the competition. It's a case of their Tegra SoCs just being utter rubbish so far. Poor battery life, poor after release update support and general closed minded approach to ISV dealings. And the funniest part is they want high margins on such a flop line up. No one is that mad enough to take them up on large scale orders. Even the ones who did use their chips, I can bet it was with sweetener deals that involved $$$ to the OEM, but nvidia don't have the deep pockets of Intel to play that game for long so they are quitting now.
Haha, seems AMD made the right decision to not going into mobile world first, instead AMD choose gaming console and made success with both sony & microsoft.
If only nvidia didn't waste their time on mobile market, they might be able to get better profit on console.
What did nvidia expect? The competition Making room for it? Or people buying nvidia and intel just because of their name? Their products are hardly any better than qualcomms and known to be much more expensive. It seems the only major soc oems to stay alive are qualcomm, mediatek and exynos-apple ax
They say "it is not only performance oriented but also mostly cost oriented market so they withdraw the competition"?
Am I reading right? He stated it like they were doing miracles on mobile technology but it costed a lot so no one bought right? Everyone remembers how lame were the ULP GPUs. They were so lame that they could not even run a game without getting help from all CPU cores. They were so lame that the developers had to share their burden to CPU cores for many operations. Yet they claimed they were so superior, so unique thus need everyone to upgrade their software to match Nvidia's hardware. So they started Tegra oriented gaming with their own lame market. And for a while everyone thought their GPUs were so different, so tehnologic and powerfull; no other GPU would run those games on that high effects. That was the miyth until Chainfire came with Chainfire 3D, cheated the games to make them think they were running on a Tegra device and they ran just fine! Without even making any CPU core jump on... Only with GPU. So everyone realised their ULP (Ultra Low Power)GPU was so weak that they needed help from CPUs, so they needed to optimise games secretly to share the load on CPUs.
Now tell me, please; how is that not cost oriented? How it that awesome tech? No one wanted you because you give shitty kernel, force the circumstances (45nm Tegra 3 for a phone?)just to brand it like it is a new device, let even big companies down yet the customers, and more importantly try to devide the community, market by biting the pie instead of cunstrubiting it..
So goodbye Nvidia. I really do believe, if you did not exist gaming industry would be on a better position right now with OpenGL, ATi and many other contrubitors..
rohnny, 23 May 2014Tegra is one of the best chipset with excellent graphics support.. Now Adreno don't have any c... moreyou’re wrong, mali does support Real Racing3. i have played it on samsungalaxy s advance, it ran smooth at 480x800 with Chainfire 3D.
Johnny Walker, 23 May 2014The NVIDIA CEO is a useless person and his lack of intelligence leads NVIDIA to this...terribl... moreKeep believing that, money still pours in from desktop GPUs, which is their main business.
There's still a low cost, low performance, substitue processor - Mediatek. And also the samsung exynos series, which is improving year by year. Intel also if they will lend an eye on their mobile processors. All these might be Qualcoms rival in the coming years.
Well its kind of good news cause most of the phones were nt getting os update cause of this crappy nvidia graphic cards!!!!
no devices with NVIDIA were available !
no longer payed devs to bring graphics down !!!
Even the mighty intel couldnt compete against the qualcom. And nvidia?? Hmmm...
Now qualcomm has no real competition. That's no good since no one is gonna pressure them to make chipsets that are vastly more powerful than the last gen.
Yeah, that's the reason, not the one that they are horrible...
I have owned 2 nvidia phones. Tegra 2, and Tegra 3. While performance really is good, games (not recent ones) still lagged, and battery performance is horrible, especially when I compare with my friends' non-nVidia running phones.
I appreciate they are not producing more SOCs for smartphones anymore.
This statement will sabotage the Tegra K1 sales as no customer wants to buy discontinued brand/model.
S810 will be left unchallenged.
Focusing on that stupid gaming shield???
Nvidia! you can prepare buying back the device by yourself.
Only fools would be happy over this. I hope they at least continue with some tablets and not just Shield looking devices.
The Nvidia Tegra Note 7" tablet, whilst not possessing the best screen, is blindingly fast, and now it's £99 in PC World (UK), it's a steal. Compare to the 7 or 8" Samsung Galaxy Tabs nearby, and whilst their screens are way better, they are sluggish and lack the cool military like styling of the Tegra Note. And it has stereo speakers and a stylus too!
