if companies ado... moreHey, I think we are all for better evolution of devices. But there's the mediocre way of doing it, and actually doing it right. Sure, Nokia and Samsung can throw in as many megapixels and features as they want. But does that make it revolutionary? Not necessarily. Why? Because it does not render revolutionary results. No one is throwing away their digital cameras for the N95 or the Innov8. What's revolutionary is, introducing a device that changes the trends and the way of thinking of the consumers on a device. The iphone is not the first touchscreen phone, right? But because of its revolutionary UI, OS, combination of features, and integration of services that all points to providing easy and convenient use of the device and accessability of products/apps, the iphone changed the direction of phone manufacturing and even services. Iphone is pretty much setting the standards now and the trends. That, is revolutionary. Apple is not just about throwing in features. They take their sweet time to throw in a feature and makes sure its done the best way. Look at their added copy, cut and paste feature. You can say that they're late on that, but look at how wonderful and easy the execution of this function with the iphone is. Same with BT (no more pairing). They take it a step up. And I'm sure that when they finally put in an 8 megapixel camera that it would not just be the megapixel that would impress you, but also the photo software that would come with it. Any pro would recognize that the iphone's OS is way ahead of the rest. I do believe that there would come a time that standalone cameras would be phased out just like what happened to the pagers in the 90's, and that is slowly happening as photo companies like Kodak are already collaborating with phone manufacturers. I won't be surprised if Canon starts to do that as well. But Nokia, Samsung and SE did it prematurely. All they have are high megapixels but w/ poor photo processing softwares. Hence, I'm still stuck with my Canon.
If the iphone just throws in features like high megapixels and not putting in a good photo processing software with it, then it would be just like any Nokia and Samsung phones, and it wouldn't be revolutionary. Sorry, but the iphone did not go the N95's direction. Nokia though, is going the iphone's direction.
Anonymous, 09 Apr 2009What scam are you talking about? Are you that desperate that you would just accuse Apple of sc... moreThe question is if you don't think Apple could have added good wi-fi, oled screen, improved UI, 32gb internal memory, flash support, video capture and a 3.2 mp camera already in the iPhone 3G ?? Cause we all know the OS easily supports it, the question is why didn't the do it? It's not like people with the original iPhone were asking after a 15mp camera, HD video capture, a diamond screen and a 200gb storage when we know the Apple OS don't support it. They just wanted the basic issues and needs that we know the OS easily supports to be fixed, improved and uppgraded for the next release, not through jailbreaking your phone, busting your waranty and installing dodgy hacked third part apps that don't even work properly most of the time. You iSheep really don't get it it do you? Apple totally ignored peoples concerns and made you wait in line a whole noght outside a store just to get the same phone as the original one but with added 3G and rounded of design. Do you think 3G and a rounded of design is worth 700 dollars? That is the question. Apple making people line up outside stores in the states after a new phone with the same stuff in it like the last one dosn't show that Apple is popular, it shows tha people are dumb jackasses or get iPhones to fit in socially. I don't expect certain specs from gadgets that can't support it, but i do expect Apple to listen to the complain and concerns from the iPhone first generation customers, which they didn't do, not even for five seconds, they totally ignored it, cause they know they have all these dumb iZombies outside going Homer "duuuhh". My cousin won a Macbook Air in a contest, and it's totally worthless. I got a Apple Tv HD media player last year as a gift when i needed a HD player, and it was wortless, a HD player without HDMI connector, divx, xvid, mp4, mkv, hddvd, ripped bluay support, what the he**?? I could only play half decent quality videos from the Appstore on my HD tv through a freakin component cable. I stashed it far back in the closet and went out and got a Tvix 6500 and i couldn't be happier. And i am a happy Iphone 2G user as well, so now u know i am not a hater, just a concerned customer who refuses to be an iSheep and uppgrade just for the he** of it and for no apparent reason at all.
Correction: N95 has evolved phones alot in terms of features and what phones can do
nick, 09 Apr 2009the one thing everyone is missing here is the simple concept of evolution.
if companies ado... moreYour missing the point.......
If it wasn't for the iPhone, i8910 wouldn't be around...
N95 has evolved phones alot in terms of features and what i can do, Its the base on which other phones are judged from..
iPhone is now the base for all the NEW Touchscreen phones, Have you seen the amount of wannabes the iPhone has? LG Arena is such a clone, So is Nokia 5800... there all tryna be like the iPhone but they just CAN'T!
Thats the 'Revolution' iPhone has brought. N95 is in the same list as it, Phones that have changed the way we think about phones!
Anonymous, 08 Apr 2009True, until they realize that it's not for them =)
Look Dani, it's really simple. Know you... moreThats true to..
I mean why would someone want to have a good camera on a phone anyway? I mean there ok for random pics i agree. thats how i use my phones camera. otherwise i have a Canon
And iPhone is perfect for me to be honest. I might get one next month!, since all other new phones just don't seem good enough for me.
Da, 09 Apr 2009If you already have the original iPhone 2G then there is no point in "upgrading" to a new iPho... moreWhat scam are you talking about? Are you that desperate that you would just accuse Apple of scamming? LOL. What serious issues are you talking about? LOL. Other phones have worst issues than the iphone ok. You criticize the iphone's firmware. Why? Which phone do you think has the better firmware? And FYI, all iphones can avail of the latest firmware updates as long as it's for software. I don't think you know what you are talking about, lol. Crowd falling in line outside the Apple stores is a sign that the iphone appeals to a lot of people. And who said that they are falling in line because of the video capture? LOL. You need to get out of that box of thinking that video capture is the only feature that people are after on a smartphone. The 3rd generation iphone will offer better wi-fi, OLED screen, improved UI on its already awesome UI, 32gb internal memory, flash support, etc. The 3.2mp is alright, but that would be one of the last reasons why people would be falling in line to get the next gen iphone. What you need to learn is "respect" people and their freedom of choice. I would say that you are definitely missing out, but hey, you have a choice, and if it's not the iphone, no one should have a problem with that.
the one thing everyone is missing here is the simple concept of evolution.
if companies adopt the theory that they dont need to add features because there are standalone devices that do it better, then technology will never progress. look at the camera quality on mobiles 2 years ago, rubbish to be honest, now look at it, far far better. now think forward to 2 years time? then we'll see how much the quality differs.
why must you all go with the argument, "the iphone doesnt need a good camera because id use my digital camera anyway", or "i dont need video recording because my £999 HD sony camcorder can do it". the new i8910 is a sign that such standalone devices may become redundant in a few years time which is really useful.
the iphone stops anyone pushing the boundries, where as other devices such as i8910 and the old N95 push it forward. i think if the N95 had never come out, some of the really good phones we have today wouldnt exist.
theres my argument, im sure you'll all agree with me

The Bimmer I got came with 18" wheels, and I actually had them replace it with 16". I can't stand the harsh ride of run flat tires. But hey, it still accelerates, grips the road, and handles like a winner =)
Anonymous, 08 Apr 2009when u have kids the less stuff u can bring with u, thats when my N95 shines, all in a pocket,... moreIn a way you do make sense, and maybe an all around device is really what you need if you already have so much to carry around with you since you have kids. And I have nothing against that at all. I used to have the N95 and I thought that it was a great device, and I still think that it is. It took decent photos and videos, but still not at par with my Canon and I need not elaborate on that again. When the iphone came out, it just won me over and knew that the iphone is the device that I have been looking for. A smooth running, intuitive UI with a nice big display that can replace my ipod and access the web for simple web browsing for movies, news, youtube, etc., instead of pulling out my Mac. I'm sure you and your kids love the big plasma TV w/ surround sound. I guess all of us who have that do, which brings me to my previous point that I refuse to watch movies on my phone because I enjoy movies on a wide screen.
Civil arguments are always good. That's how we learn from each other and gain knowledge. But some people in here are just plain stupid (not you) =)
If you already have the original iPhone 2G then there is no point in "upgrading" to a new iPhone til like 4 years from now. Apple is the one the biggest scammers in the business. Instead of releasing high class firmare and hi-end apps to fix the serious issues already in the original firmware, which the OS is already capable of doing, they release new iPhones and milk a 2 year old product with minimal to ridiclous improvements that could easaly be fixed with a dedicated firmware in old iPhones. Now watch as the iJackasses cue in line outside stores just to ad bad video capture and 1.2 mp extra to same phone for 700 dollars extra. And this time Apple just might put the the audio jack just 1mm to left to make the iSheep think it's a new phone. I hail Apple for being the big time hustlers and the marketing geniuses that they are. How much intelligence must a person lack not to see this scam? I am very disapointed at the level of intelligence among iSheep and Mactards. Kudos to people who still held on to their original iPhone 2G and saw through Apples genius scam, and shame on rest of you, we call you iSheep. Scam me once, shame on you, Scam me twice, shame on me.
The sound quality of my iPhone is awesome when it's plugged into my home theatre system 150 watts per channel through Bose speakers and a 200w Audioline 12" sub, I just put my iPhone in it's dock and use the remote to skip tracks etc while it charges.
I've also got a dock in my car which shows the cover art on an LCD touchscreen, so many manufacturers make things for the iphone/iPod it's nice to be spoilt for choice.
Ahh another thing ur BMW against my Brand New ZR1 anyday, the winner destroy the looser handset!!!
Deal?
Dani, 08 Apr 2009iPhone is for everyone who wants one dude! True, until they realize that it's not for them =)
Look Dani, it's really simple. Know your priorities on a device. Know your necessities on a device. Once you know those two things, you can easily choose the right device for you.
Let's say you do not have a digital camera and photos are important for you. Why in the hell are you buying an iphone and complain about its camera? LOL. Do you see my point?
All those haters in here do not even have an iphone. They're just here to express their jealousy and bitterness. While I am here to tell them that they are stupid and cheap =)
when u have kids the less stuff u can bring with u, thats when my N95 shines, all in a pocket, but ull learn that when u have ur own!!
I use my Canon for art pics and for my after and before pics at my consultory, but honestly on close up mode my N95 does great too!!!
of course when i travel i bring the Canon, but for clubing friends ,fishing,Mountain Biking, and day to day ill use the Nokia, almost 85% of my Facebook is N series pics, and they are great it becomes an art to take great pics on a Cell and hearing people saying, "no way that was took on a cell phone!!!" and i lov to keep things simple, the less i have on my pocket on on my hands the most i can hug my kids!
ps i also have a huge Plasma and B&W Sound sistem and my kids love to play PS3 on it!!
The iPhone has component and S-Video out the N-Series don't, they only have lower quality component video.
In many ways the iPhone has higher quality features, Apple want to get things right so they take their time the most important thing with the iPhone is the user experience which is second to none, that's why it's so successful.
As a gaming device no other phone comes close, ID Software (John Carmack) has just released Wolfenstein 3D. for the iPhone, hopefully Doom and Quake will soon follow.
I like hot swapping my SIM, I can just pop it out while the phones still on and put in my other one music will keep playing without missing a beat etc
You do know iPhone is available on Pay as you go aswell and even Sim-Free unlocked?
So its not even that expensive to buy......
anyone and everyone is free to buy it anytime!

I really believe that people have different needs and lifestyles. There are different devices for everyone. The iphone is obviously not for those people who compromises on quality and like to settle for mediocre results because they refuse to pay, or should I say could not afford to pay, lol.
If you are for security & quality, go for the iphone. If you are for free stuff and piracy, there are plenty of Symbian devices for you to choose from =)
iPhone is for everyone who wants one dude!

But for people like me who has digital cameras that renders better results and love to use it, we could care less for camera phones. Do you understand the reasoning there? Those people who like to complain about the iphone's 2mp camera are either not picky with photo quality, or simply cheap. You try to insult me by pointing out that I have to bring several devices. But hey, for people like me who does not want to compromise on quality, it is worth the effort. Also, I have a car, so I don't really carry all of my toys around =) I usually only have with me my iphone and my Canon camera. My laptop stays in my car. I would understand that it would be ridiculous to carry so much devices if you only take public transportation to get around (so you settle for Nokia), which again goes back to my point that the iphone is for those who have money =) BTW, I think I have mentioned that my BMW has a navigation system =) But of course on your case you have to depend on your Nokia, which btw the iphone also has gps which I never used because again I have a navi on my car. I have to repeat myself many times so that the poor people would get it =)
I can also post messages here through my iphone, but why would I do that when I have a PC here at the office? =) Thank goodness I have money and don't have to depend on my phone to do everything.
Again, I don't mean to be arrogant, but I am really getting tired of annoying Nokia and Samsung fans dissing the iphone and making a big deal out of something that is really quite irrelevant for us who can afford a digital camera.
Anonymous, 08 Apr 2009You asked about multi-tasking. The iphone allows multi-tasking on some apps. Let's face it, th... moreOuch... Another offended die-hard iPhone fan... ;-D
If you're really that 'loaded' (BMW? BOSE? Please... That's lame), I don't think you'd be easily offended.
Chill out, Dude... It's just a phone.
Like most people say: iPhone is great with its web browser capability.
Other than that, other phones can do the same or even better without being needed to be upgraded...
