i have a tube. the simplest way to see how a resistive screen handles multitouch is to have a drawing program installed and,.. test it till a pattern emerge. the physics behind it is a bit more complicated but is not impossible.
the main challenge is (i think) to calculate the the second fingers position based upon the first and the "midpoint". and that is because resistives are pressure sensitive.
but gestures should be easy to "replicate" or should i say invent. for example the concurrent pressures between the 2 fingers may be useful.
jack69, 15 Apr 2009nokia is copper iphone is the king i hate nokia because all model of nokia have same platfor... moreya but nokia has hundreds of model but appple has managed to realease only one model (forget the 2g). so in reality iphone sucks.but it is hard for tiny brains of iphone fans to understand this fact.
jack69, 15 Apr 2009nokia is copper iphone is the king i hate nokia because all model of nokia have same platfor... moreUsing the same platform is the point. If we go and upgrade our phone, lets say n73 to n82, i dont want to learn an entirely new SMART interface. Seeing that u are a fanboy u wouldnt clearly see it my way. So tell me if the iphone and iphone 3g uses the same platforms?
it's a super game you can download from this website for free
Nokia5800 rocks find some freeware cool apps from nokia.co.in

Tucks, 14 Apr 2009Bit of a stupid q really! it says it all in the title.
It is when you can use more than su... moreSo why is it a stupid question when you can't answer it properly?
The article says nothing about what it means or how it will be implemented, it merely assumes that every human being understands "multi-touch".
I can figure out by the title that it involves two fingers or more, but how exactly does it benefit me?
Hi. I think that think that nokia made 5800 as an iphone killer is bullshit specially when you know that it is their fist touch phone and lacks in a few tings for make it fulfiled . I like nokia phones specilly Nseries and sony ericsson uiq series . They always make a new technologic standart like nokia n95 and sony ericsson G900 or W960 for example and then other manufacturers make their own copies . Iphone is not the best phone on earth a lacks a lot of basics functions well known.touch phones as very old and only because iphone has a multitouch screen it is the best. No it is not like that multi or not multitouch nokia 5800 offers its onw system and functions and thats that stop it. By the way nokia offers symbian that has many fans and thirt party apps.
I've known that resistive touch phones could do multitouch, but I've never seen it in action. I'm impressed, although I don't know if this capability will really help the 5800 very much. Resistive technology is on its way out, as it should be, its quite old, glitchy, scratches the screen, and not as fluid as people would like (when compared to capacitive touch phones). One advantage (and only one) is that it can be used with gloves on, this might make a big difference if you live in New York or Antarctica or something, but other than that it shouldn't even exist given the presence of capacitive touch.
And the reason people put this phone up against the Iphone is because it was marketed AS an Iphone killer. So far there have been like 4 distinct phones that have been released under that label, and all of them have drifted into nothingness (at least the hype is all but gone). I feel that it is Palm's Pre that will perhaps give the Iphone a run for its money, and I'm excited to see what will happen upon its release between the 2 companies.
In Poland it's standard color. We've got 3 colors - red, blue and silver :)
Anonymous, 14 Apr 2009Whatis multi-touch exactly?Bit of a stupid q really! it says it all in the title.
It is when you can use more than surface area on the touchscreen to manipulate information.
For example on the iphone you pull two fingers towards each other to zoom in, in apps such as google earth and picture gallery (i think, i don't own one).
gam28toronto, 14 Apr 2009Why does everyone have to apply this to the iphone?
If the guy implements multitouch on a Nok... moreHe mentioned at the start that he made a rotary dialler like the iPhone app that came out months ago, this is a very poor attempt to imitate Tap Tap Revenge from iPhone, incidently Coldplay just released a custom version of Tap Tap revenge following on from Nine Inch Nails and other custom versions.
Imitation isnthe sincerest form of flattery, even if it's as poorly implemented as this one.
Why does everyone have to apply this to the iphone?
If the guy implements multitouch on a Nokia, let it be!
Iphone is a good phone, but Nokia 5800 is a different phone. We aren't asking Steve Job why the Iphone 3G only got a 2MP Camera when some phones have like 10MP+ Cameraphones with FLASH. We aren't gonna asking why the Iphone's battery is so poor. Why can't it do Copy and paste when NUMERIC phones could do it years ago?
